  1. Not only is the toilet seat not being put down, but I'm taking it off the motherfucking porcelain.

I tell my wife, "I'm sick and tired of you leaving the toilet seat down! I have to piss sometimes in the middle of the night (if I'm drinking), and I'm tired of pissing all over the god damned seat!"

Something similiar happened once, I was drunk and went in the sink. :glare:

  2. There has been some noticable discussion on the boards of late about Starman. Some of it curiousity, and some admiration for the Jack Knight series. So here is a thread for us fans to discuss Starman.

Maybe those interested will learn something.

    Have at it.

  3. To me Hal is THE Green Lantern. Just because I heard and read his stories growing up. I wish no ill will towards Kyle. He has earned his place in the Corp. That place being on adventures out in deep space.

  4. Fucking Michigan lost. It was an eye for an eye type of game. It came down to two seconds, a field goal kick to score three points for a one point win. No worries. Lotsa keg beer, weed and food to go 'round.

Would you believe they showed a Constantine trailer during the Rose Bowl? I was among a lot of sports fans that did not give a shit about comics, sci-fi or any of that shit so the trailer was pretty in-effectual. I was pretty suprised tho.

I saw the trailer also. Rose Bowl + Constantince trailer, not 2 things I would associate with each other. If only I wasn't a Hellblazer fan, I would like it much more. It did look decent though. Notice the "This film has not yet been rated." Maybe, just maybe it will still be R rated.

  5. We prolly wont find out who the Mystery demon is untill later. I'm not sure if its Demon Constantine.. I mean wouldnt Demon Constantine sound a lot like John?

    Only....you know....more demonic!

I'm thinking the big reveal will either be in the final chapter of "Reasons", or it will carry over into Carey's next story-arc. Either way, the revelation will not play out until later in Carey's run.

Even if it is the Demon Constantine, it wouldn't sound like John at all, since he is possesing someone's body. Right? I mean he would be using that body's vocal chords+ his "demon" voice.

Anway, I think it is really.......Keanu.

    I am very much kidding!

  6. Yeah, I'm pretty sure talkinghead is correct, and I agree with him that it's a stupid idea not to collect them with the story-arcs they were a part of!

Ah well....They needed to be collected, as some of the best issues were "Times Past" stories.

One of my favorite Times Past was the "hidden" adventure of Starman(Ted), Hourman, and Flash(Jay), and Dr. Mid-nite going up a psychotic Ragdoll. It leaves you with an open ended climax that makes you wonder WHICH of the heroes killed Ragdoll to protect their families.

The Times Past stories usually tied directly into the currect story and/or foreshadowed events down the road.

  7. Awesome. Me and the lads are gonna watch football and pound some brews while the missus is away shopping.

We got the Michigan Wolverines against the Texas Longhorns for the Rose Bowl!

Just watched my Iowa Hawkeyes beat the LSU Tigers in a literal last second 60 yd touchdown pass.

    Cigars all around!

  8. Didn't DC collect most of the Times Past stories of Starman in a trade or 2?

I always thought this was a dumb idea, since the Times Past stories were intended for particular parts of the series by James Robinson.

  9. Tweak, a word of caution. The first trade ends in a cliffhanger of sorts and the follow up IS NOT collected yet and nobody knows when. However, having recently been in your position of being new, I have greatly enjoyed discovering Hellblazer.

The rest of the trades are good and could appeal to a variety of tastes.

Personally, I am not interested in Brian Azarello run on Hellblazer, he just couldn't seem to get John dialog right, though decent stories.

  10. Well, I do praise "Starman" every chance I get and call it the greatest, most mature and intelligent, mainstream superhero comic book EVER. It has (just barely) replaced DeMatties' 1980s "Dr. Fate" as my favourite mainstream DC series.

I mean....How much more do you want?! You're trying to get blood from a turnip!

Nah Christian you do good on spreading the word. I have seen you mention DeMatties' Dr Fate and I may have to do some back issue hunting. I have always liked Dr Fate just never felt he was handled properly.

Just to keep this about GL, Jack Knight I believe could kick Kyle's ass.

  11. Has JC ever said - I don't use guns.  Never have.  Never will.  Fucking bullshit if he had.

FUCK YES! You've got it right there! I mean, Exorcist would have been a GREAT film if only Father Merrin has packed a nine milli on the way to the exoricsm. Frodo was an utter pussy for throwing away his sword in Mordor, am I right? Casablanca would have been fucking great if Rick had pulled ouy a gun a greased all those Nazis, yeah? Verbal whipping out a gun and waxing his accomplices would haver made Usual Suspects like the bestest film ever!

Well said Qusoor. A gun(holy or otherwise) is a means to an end. It just isn't the preferred means to John Constantine's end. His "weapon" of choice is himself. His own will through the tool of magic. You are right sometimes it is better to put down the "sword." By JC NOT using guns, it makes the story that much more interesting. It is about the journey itself and about what the character goes through as a result of the choices he/she makes, not a quick fix like a gun.

  12. I urge all who read this do what he/she is able to help those affected by the tsunami in Asia. PLEASE make donations if you can for as much as you are able. Try to convince others to donate as well. There are many great organizations out there that helping to make a difference, so try to help them. It can not be done without money.

Also a few prayers would help.

    Thank you!

  13. No one ruined "Starman". Minus a few issues here and there, "Starman" was phenomenal from front to back.

If you just mean "ruin it" from an artwork stance, maybe....I'm not that big into judging a book based on art.

Half of the Joy Of Starman was in the artwork... then Mr. Snejbjerg came in and...

Avaunt - which issues/trades have you read?

The writing on Starman stayed top quality, however going from Tony Harris(with occasional fill ins) to Snejberg just seemed wrong in some way.

Avaunt be warned, Rogan WILL make you a believer. Besides Starman is that damn good.

  14. Kane is good.

Jack Staff is good as well. I highly recommend "Everything Used to be Black and White"- the collection of the entire first series.

It is hard to follow when it comes out quarterly(?). I sometimes have go back and re-read when a new issue comes out, but I do not mind since it is still good and worth the wait.

You can definetly tell in many elements of Jack Staff, that this series was intended as a Union Jack series that Marvel passed on.

  15. You know James Robinson co-wrote the first few issues of Hawkman. Makes me wonder how Rags would have done on Starman, instead of Peter Snejdberg.

This is just me thinking out loud.

I must admit I am sooo happy Hal will back and in the hands of Geoff Johns and Carlos Pacheo, no less, for Hal ongoing. My father raised me on bed time stories of Hal's adventures and later bought me as much GL as I could take.

  16. found in a suicidegirls.net interview with P Craig Russel:

DRE: How was doing the Endless Nights story?

PCR: It’s always great working with one of Neil’s scripts and also working in the different styles the story required.

DRE: You have a lot of mainstream work coming up.

PCR: Yes a six issue series with Neil Gaiman

Is this Gaiman's second Marvel project (long rumoured to be a Thor comic)? I'm certainly interested, cause Gaiman and Russel together nearly always produce something great. I think Russel is also doing a three issue Conan mini for Dark Horse next year.

I do not think it is a Thor project, although that would kick all form of ass. I read somewhere Gaiman had some ideas on a new Thor, but passed, as did a few other well know writers.

I think maybe it is the rumoured sequel to 1602. Or we are all completly wrong and will love it all the same.

  17. Now, nowhere has it been proven that these pedophile priests are homosexuals! I'm sure many of them are, but I'm also pretty damned sure nowhere near all of them!

I think it's just the fact that a fucking adult is molesting children is the fucking problem, it has nothing to do with sexual orientation!

On another note, tax breaks to the wealthy are a good way to get a country out of a recession.

A good point Christian. I was just pointing out the inequitable ways organized religion tends handle situations, especial matters of sex.

I do know that for every bad clergy there are many, many more doing good work who have to deal with the negative image these sick predators bring to their profession.
