  1. A short time ago, I found Demon 1-5 by Kirby for about $25. This has a great orginal character and great art by Kirby.

I also found Spider-man 2099 1-10 for $5. This was a very underrated book. It revitalized the tiring old concept of Spider-man.

Both of these are not very valuable but I got a kick out of them.

  2. I first encountered Mr. Constantine in Sandman. I had to see more, so I grabbed some current issues and Azarello turned me off for a bit. Then I started with the Original Sins and was pissed that the story didn't continue. Then got into Ennis work which was great. Then after getting caught up on Lucifer, heard Carey was to write Hellblazer and I have been reading ever since.

  3. Animal Man was, in a word, great

DC gave Morrison the wheel on a character that no one cared about and made him relevant. Just when you think Morrison is going one way with it, he turns the whole thing upside down. And it all works. AM showed how intelligent and well written superhero books could be. By the time its all over you feel like you traveled with AM through this great journey then left with a sense of completion.

And yes this title should have stopped after Morrison.

  4. I am very fond of "Rosemary's Baby." It's more psychological, rather than all hack and slash gore.

"House of 1,000 Corpses" was just gross, not scary and ripped off a bunch of classics. Decent effort by Zombie.

"The Exorcist" is good. I'm athiest and it still scared me a little.

    REDRUM REDRUM REDRUM

all work and no play make talkinghead something, something

  5. This is what I think the connections are:

Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Sandman, Lucifer, and Books of Magic all take place in their own little Vertigo Earth-1, if you will. Since these are spin-offs of each other and often play off each other and reference each others stories at times.

Swamp Thing spun off Hellblazer which spun off Books of Magic(kinda)

    Sandman spun off Lucifer.

Everything else in Vertigo is it's own world.

The Vertigo characters we have seen in the DCU are the DCU's version of that character. Example: Swampy and Morpheus, an elemental and a concept of dreaming. They, of course, exist in some fashion in the DCU.

    Just some ideas.

  6. For the Miracle(Marvel) Man reprints, will it be in trades or individual issues?

Although it is sad that one of the few good Marvel books will be a book done about 15 years ago. Maybe this will inspire Marvel? No, they will probably have "Ultimate Marvel Man" soon after and take 10 issues to tell the "new, more hip" version of Marvel Man's origin. And probably dump him in the Ultimate universe and ruin a great character.

  7. The Longest Day is very good. You definetly see that for James Robinson EVERY character is important gets a time to shine. Starman wasn't Jack Knight with bit players. Each character was developed nicely over the years.

  8. Talkinghead -

Firstly you get my my seal of fucking approval for sporting the Bradstreet/Spider avatar.

That's my brother Bob with the 8 legged tattoo and smarmy demeanor. It reminds me that we haven't spoken in a while and you just made me want to call him. SEALED

Lastly, another no prize to Talkinghead. You've hit upon the perfect idea and tip of the hat to all of the folks who populate this forum. At some point in the future I will do just that, another wall - be it brick, tile, rotting weathered plaster, or paved with human skin. The whole gang goes up.

This WILL happen, just gotta find the perfect vehicle.

    PHEW!

Tim you are unbelievably cool. Just let us know when the names will appear. Glad you like my avatar. It was suggested to me since I resemble Spider and like him I give others my opinion whether they want it or not. thank you sir!

  9. I reall dug the earlier issues of Usagi but something has changed in Sakai's artwork over the last several years. It's not as clean as it used to be. Is it just me? That said, it is indeed a good book.

Charlie, I have noticed it as well. His past work is more sharp and crisp. However an artist style is bound to change over 15-20 years. It still works for me.

  10. I liked Robert Kirikman's all too brief 4 issues. He is great on Invincible. But with only 4 issues, it seemed rushed.

I think Brubaker will do well and Steve Epting is consistenly good. At least it's not Chuck Austen. :(

  11. Yes, I believe that all the new "Avengers" line-up is launching next month.

    Avengers #1-by Bendis

    Iron Man #1-by Ellis

    Capt. America #1-by Brubaker

I couldn't see them launching Cap after they relaunched the other books....

Speaking of that, how many freaking Captain America series have they had now?!?!?

    Cap is becoming like "Punisher".

Avengers-couldn't care less, "Marvel's JLA" HA! Wolverine does not need another book, same with Spidey

Iron Man & Cap seem fairly interesting

You are right on about the numerous Cap restarts. Marvel should leave it be, no more #1s.

  12. OMG! This series is still going on?!

Wasn't Usagi introduced in the original TMNT comic book? I read the original Ninja Turtles comic, and I seem to remember recognizing this samurai rabbit from that comic book.

Not quite. Usagi started in the anthology book Albedo, which had other animorphic characters. But he and the Turtles did cross paths in each others' books via sorcery or science a few times. Usagi also guest starred on an episode of TMNT in 80's.
