  1. Sakai leans more towards single issue and shorter stories. It is very accesible. You would not need to know Usagi's whole 20 year history. For example the current issue, #78 is about Usagi having to bodyguard an obnoxiuos old lady. While there are moments of humor, it is also a touching and interesting 1 issue story.

  2. This is just to draw attention to a great book that I feel people should at least check out once.

Some of the reasons you should read Usagi:

-Stan Sakai has been the only one working on it for 20 years. Not many creators can claim that.

-Great for all ages. Adults and young ones get something out it.

-Good artwork. It is not overly complicated and not overly simple. Sakai does exactly what he needs to tell the story.

-Intriguing characters with compelling drama and comedy at times.

-You can learn a great deal of Japanese history and culture.

-It's a samurai rabbit. 'nuff said

  3. Does anyone listen to the group, "Chingon?" It's the group with Robert Rodriguez. Their music has been in Desparado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and in Kill Bill Vol.2 during the end credits.

Is the CD worth picking up?

  4. All of the Beatles solo work proved 1 thing: they make better music together rather than separate. Dividing greatness into 4 parts is still damn good.

Also, Abbey Road is a damn good album. The cover is one of the best in music history.

  5. Just got around to scoping the Iron Man preview. Think I might give that one a try.

Anybody know when Ed Brubaker's Captain America comes out? Who's on the art chores and is there a preview?

I believe the new Cap (starting with a new #1) is coming out next month. I do know Steve Epting of Cross-Gen and Avengers fame will be doing the art. I have seen some of his covers and they look great!

  6. Ellis' Iron Man has a great deal of potential. He is good at writing sci-fi, so he's well suited for Iron Man.The art is good, but some what empty. I don't think he will be able to keep up with a monthly schedule.

Well suited! Sweet Zombie Jesus that was a very bad unintended pun. sorry.

  8. Dredd Vs Death is probably as good a place to start as any. The Dark Judges are far and away the best Dredd villains, in my book.

I did buy this book and I liked it. It did take a little time to get used to the structure of the 8(?) page stories. Bolland is awesome as usual. I will have to get more Dredd in the future.

    Thanks.

  9. I swear, man.......I didnt think the death of a man I had never met would get me down so much....I've been feeling kinda down all day.  Superman/Reeve has been so inextricably wound with my entire childhood, I have SO many memories. The Superman series is responsible in large ways for my being such a movie fanatic (which in turn won me my scholarship here - it sounds like a stretch but it isnt). Says a lot about how we can associate people with their famous roles and about the magic of movies in general. Of course, it wouldntve been anything without the man himself.....had he been some junkie/wifebeater like some other actors, he wouldnt be so widely mourned - the greatest Superman ever or not.

I was thinking about it today and I realized I can STILL call up in my head Large chunks of the screenplays of all four movies even now.

I've got my Superman t shirt out too. Played the John Williams theme all day too. Talk about melancholy.

It cool. I too played the theme solomnly. He was THE Superman for me as a child and to this day. Even after his accident he showed us all that it doen't take extraordinary powers to be super.

  10. I agree about Higgins' artwork. It is the only thing holding me back from buying "Haunted." However Ellis rarely fails to please, so I will probably get it anyway. I am fairly new to past writers on Hellblazer and still learning since I started with Azarello(same reason I left)

  11. It truly is a sad world if Superman is dead!

My favorite scene is in Superman 2, after Supes returns with powers,

"General, Would you care to step outside!"

Christopher Reeves was a Super-Man in all respects.

Most importantly, He made us all think a man could fly!

  12. Correct, the whole priest thing was a trick by his devil(literally) father. Kurt is now just staying true to his faith and spreading the word.

I too want no more X-men solo books. It takes away from when a character appears in the core X-men books. It just isnt as special.......Wolverine, I am looking at you especially!

  13. Thanks to all for answering my questions. This is proof once again that these boards are the best boards.

I have liked Jenkins's work for a while but never checked out his Hellblazer issues.
