Here's my profile thing
Getting together and partying would be ace. i often imagine it happening, then get sad that it won't.
Well if everyone can't be bothered to come on over to Bristol ;-)
Adrian, even when you had cool bands back in 1996 nobody could be bothered to come to Bristol...
Whereas Stan Collymore's carpark antics must have people going to Staffordshire IN THEIR HORDES !
But I meant Bristol in May for the Comic Expo :-p
It's the world's BIGGEST gathering of Straight to Hell folk.
We have Mungo Jerry! Every bloody Newcastle carnival since the year dot, Ray Dorset has turned up.
(And there's Robbie Williams and Storm Constantine, but we don't like to talk about that.)
I wasn't taking a poke, I just recall that the only hack back then who'd actually gone to Bristol (rather than summoning the trip hop bands to London) was Everett True.

I wasn't thinking of Kennedy, to be honest: given that he'd have probably started the third world war given time enough, that's something Texas did right.
-
Actually, that 1 extra inch raises me out of dwarfism.
I have a friend who is 4' 9" and technically, she is a dwarf.
Was she in Time Bandits?
-
I blame fucking Texas!
Everything that is wrong in America today is Texas' fault.

Charlie, that thing about Robin swiving the late Batgirl that was quickly removed from the DC forum was by you?

Whats wrong with nude pics if theyre more in the art section?
The assumption that them being in the art section makes them better than mere pornography: it always put me in mind of that comment of Alan Moore's about the only two differences between porn and erotica being the pretensions of the creator and the audience demographic.

Of all the forums I'm on, this seems far and away the most fun, and I'd say that's purely down to the other people who use it.
-
It's quite good for a laugh.
I may be wrong, but I don't think that's why most people watch it.
MojoPin: I fear that the lad's mags are a lot more misogynistic than most pornography I've seen.

The winning anti semitic cartoon was of Hitler in bed with Anne Frank, I'm told.

You know that Jamie Oliver stuff will have no impact on school dinners, because schools are tied into 25 year contracts with companies who ain't going to change the slop they serve, don't you?
I'm well aware of that, but reading some of the crap that's been spouted about this, you'd think that he'd saved a generation of kids from obesity and diabetes single handed.

Sorry, it's education authorities, not boards, isn't it?
-
Fair point.

Like a crombie with a vinyl panel over the shoulders: they're often favoured by council workmen while digging up roads in winter.
(Now I think about it, Constantine's sporting one along with his beard in Carey's first story...)

Mark, I'm going to say that two or three of those fall into the profound category, so good job. "Morning Glory" is the only Oasis song I can stomach, but it IS killer! However, it is another song with ironic lyrics masking the subject of drug abuse, innit?
Another Girl Another Planet is probably about opiates rather than rumpy pumpy as well, though.
-
If the president of the NUT is going to be there, it might be worth asking why a whining celebrity chef seems to have more clout with local education boards than the government does?
-
I should modify my point slightly to say ... isn't it ironic to be banning smoking in pubs and clubs while encouraging people to drink more by opening them longer?
Perhaps they should allow smoking after 11.00pm ;-)
Actually I do believe the Govt are liberalising alcohol and gambling because they know they are going to lose out on smoking tax.
Note that it's the social problems of alcohol that everyone focuses on -
tobacco causes more deaths but alcohol has wider-ranging health impact.
At least there's no such thing as passive drinking (unless you're getting your ear bent by a drunk who won't shut up, I suppose...)

I just checked in my bargain bin find "Batman in the Forties" and the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne was shown in Detective Comics #33 which was November 1939.
Right. Just not the first story then. Thanks.
-
Early on Batman's origin is mentioned during a conversation that takes place in 1939: hadn't the character been around for four or five years before it occured to Bob Kane to explain why he was dressin g up as a bat and fighting crime?

I was told to pick up Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe. What's it worth?
It was two or three quid new.

Dizzy freaking me! Today, I spent all day digging a fucking trench! Me! The guy what DON'T have no trenchcoat, me! I guess I'm no longer a trench poseur. How many of you trenchcoat owning sodders have actually dug a trench? I'm guessing I've jumped to the top of that particular list even without the proper outerwear...
Aren't donkey jackets more traditional than trench coats for that sort of thing?

Metallica's cover of Turn the Page was shit. They didn't do anything to make it their own. Not that I cared for the song anyway.....
Me neither. Melodramatic crap about some sad rock 'n roll star on the road crying about his circumstances.... all the way to the bank.
The problem may be more with Metallica than the song, in this case.

Daddy or chips - yes - good one. Like it.
I dreamt in real time about our upcoming television debut last night and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I think i asked some dumbass question about 'will the world still be here in 50 years' time?'
ID cards....hmmmm, not really my main area of interest.....
Christian, it's very far removed from a Willy Wonka type experience. For a start you risk being told off by David Dimbleby - not a nice prospect.
Chan, all we have to do is focus the questions on bang up to date issues, whether they are local or global...
Hmmm, prostitution, Dick Cheney.....so many possibles.

I think one of my questions will be about climate change and the energy debate, in the news this week cause a large oil salt field has been discovered in Canada...
Perhaps you could get this week's New Statesman and Private Eye and flip through them until you find something that's really going to embarrass your victim?
