The big question for me is why didn't the giant have a weapon? He could have taken out the shield wall with a few swings of a big tree.

ooo that looks like a very faithful adaptation, looking forward to that. I'm reading Mike Careys new book at the moment, Fellside.
-
I did find this weeks episode very very slow, definitely the weakest episode so far, but I'll stick with it.

I think you're being overly harsh. It certainly wasn't Hellblazer of old, but it wasn't all bad. It was a damn site better than the Nu 52 Constantine. Saying that I'm not sad it's over in the least and looking forward to the new one.

Well that wasn't too bad. Sticks close enough to the comics to not put the purists out. Seems to be keeping to the same general story with quite a few flashes of things to come. The casting of Cassidy is great, and Jesse looks the part. The bar room fight scene was almost Daredevil standard, I'm hopeful that this is going to be a lot better than expected. It's already way better than Lucifer (not that that was going to be hard!)

Apart from Buffy it's one of the only shows that seems to pull off a 'monster of the week' without it getting stale, obviously helped along by the fact the main story arc is strong and never sidelined.

Yep, Caul, Logan, Glokta, Shy, Friendly, Bethod, Cosca. The stories are all quite short and set before, during and after the events in the other books.

Just finished Joe Abercromies latest book Sharp Ends. A collection of short stories revisiting some old favourite characters and introducing a few good new ones (who hopefully will appear in the new trilogy). The best of them feature Shevedieh and Javre two great new characters.

Episode 6 and it got slightly more interesting, less police procedural. I was on the verge of giving up on it but I think I'll give it a bit more of a chance.

There is an entire thread about this buried somewhere.
Personally I loved the ending, when I say that I mean the last chapter, the rest of the last book was pretty poor. Good casting if it's true, still hope Aaron Paul plays Eddie.

Tough, so many good ones that evoke so many memories. However I think Skyfall wins for me, with Live and let Die a close second.

I'm not sure what went on between the first episode and the second.
I read that the second episode aired was actually written and filmed as the fifth episode, if that's indeed true you'll be getting the answer to your question over the next 3 weeks.

I'm looking forward to The Division, quite a few new gameplay videos out the last week and it looks very good. Free Beta test on all platforms next weekend if you pre-order it. It's been described by a few as a bit like destiny but with a way better story. Despite it's flaws Destiny provided more fun for me than any other game I've played (mainly due to the great bunch of people I met through it and play with regularly)

Rob the owner hadn't been in the shop for a few years as he was to ill, I kind of thought I'd never see him again. The shop not being there anymore though is just weird to even imagine. As far as I was concerned it's always been there and always would be, nothing ever changed in it.
It's Time Trek in Bromley Ade.
I have discovered that there is another comic shop in Bromley now though, been there 3 years apparently and I never even knew, that's how loyal I've been.

Just went to my local comic shop that I've been a customer of for 30+ years to discover that the owner has lost his long battle with cancer and the shop is closing down next month. Can't quite believe it at the moment, when I look back over my life there aren't many things that have stayed so consistent. R.I.P Rob the comic shop guy.

At the start where it said Tarantinos 8th movie, I felt they left out the word best after the 8th.

I finally got around to watching Archer, managed to watch all 6 seasons over the last month, far and away the most consistently funny show I've ever watched, I really don't think there's one bad episode. When it was over my life felt empty so I filled the gap with (what couldn't be more opposite) Making a Murderer. Now that's over I feel empty, slightly sickened and dismayed.

I think JJ Abrams is one of those directors that doesn't do Directors cuts, what we got is what he wanted and the final cinematic cut is the directors cut, if that's changed with Disneys involvement I guess we'll find out.

Well non spoiler reviews from the Premiere are resoundingly positive, words like epic, awesome and perfect being used a lot.

The Leftovers is clearly an acquired taste as a lot of people I know don't like it, but to me it's got to be the finest bit of tv ever. Every second is beautifully shot and the music is sublime.
Does anyone else watch it apart from Slinker and I?

Encountered one bug where, on occasion, when I leave a workshop I have the 'Press V to open Workshop options' stuck on the screen and can't get rid of it!
Same bug on the PS4, only one I've encountered so far.

I really liked it too

I wrote what I thought of it in the film thread. As a life long Bond fan I'm quite bemused by the mostly positive reviews, I thought it was huge step back to the crappier end of the Brosnan days, not quite as dire as Die another day, but definitely in my bottom 3 bond films.

Saw Spectre last night. Very Bond by the numbers, almost fell asleep a couple of times. Nowhere near as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall, I'd say maybe worse than Quantum of Solace. Some of the script was just embarrassingly bad, not tongue in cheek Roger Moore era cheese, just terribly poorly written. Also one the most boring car chases I've ever seen. Not sure if there was something wrong with the screening I went to but the whole first half of the film looked like it was filmed through a sepia filter. Overall very disappointed. 5/10
Preacher the movie? Televangelism!

The Promo for next weeks episode looks a bit more promising.
