  1. The first crossover episode with The Arrow was actually pretty damn fun. Had some usual minor CW/network TV niggles, and it seemed to be a really tight cut of the episode, jumping over some plot beats to get to the good stuff faster, but I was thoroughly entertained, and am really happy that there'll be a pt. II of sorts tomorrow night.

  2. I don't think that's what Constantine does. Most of his "innocent" victims are people who willingly come to get involved.

That's true. I remember having a conversation about that with someone, way back when that UK TV show "Hustle" premiered, regarding its similarities to what we want from Hellblazer on TV, [a charming blonde british jerk, dubious doings, etc.] and how they had a credo, "you can't con an honest man", or something to that extent, which was kinda similar to all the talk regarding the cost of magic in Books of Magic and Hellblazer.

  3. I just caught up with the show in time for this half-season finale, but the hospital bits have been a bit rubbish throughout and the

whole Beth's suicide-by-cop thing left me underwhelmed. It's as if the producers are aware that this season started off strong but kinda meandered and ran out of wind, so they made those Morgan bookends, to tease us that something care-worthy might still happen.

  4. This one may be better than the last, a 6.5, perhaps even a 7, after I get a chance to see it again. The kid actor grew on me, since I know him from a million other things [that flawed but watchable sitcom Neighbors, he was Peter Parker age 9 or whatever in the new Spidey films, and even young Pierce Hawthorne in Community]. The direction was good, and the iffy stuff was really at a minimum. The monologue at the close was there again, alas, but this time it wasn't as bad as before, and juxtaposed over the asylum scenes, it had a nice effect of open interpretation regarding what happens to the spirit now that it's in its own body.

  5. Here's one:

At least we don't have Chris Hardwick doing an aftershow called "Talkstantine", "Talkblazer" or "Talking Con", where they'd have a poll to see if John's a bastard for sacrificing Gaz, and Sofia Vergara talking about Papa Midnite's latest flashy coat and going to the same salon as Angelica Celaya, while Jeff Ross does a mini-roast for Chas.

  6. Hmmm... This could be a chance for the show to do some nice heavy lifting regarding who TV-John really is:

"The Devil Inside," the episode that airs tonight, should be a pretty decent jumping-on point...but maybe won't further the larger narrative as much as the last couple of weeks' episodes have.

That's because tonight's episode (you can see a trailer below) was originally meant to air as the second episode of the series and so doesn't feature Zed or refer back to any events that happened after the pilot.

That said, it will tackle the larger issue of the Rising Darkness, something that some critics felt was too absent from the early episodes after a big build-up in the premiere and the advertising campaign.

  7. I know Shia hate is so 2004, but...

Did he see the word "rape" trending on twitter, and decided to join in the fun? And I really find it problematic that he calls this situation, where he COULD have voiced his lack of consent - rape. I know the lack of "no" doesn't equal consent, but he chose the avenue of artistic performance expression, which blurs the boundaries of societal norms [like Marina Abramovic's Rhytm 0, which is something Shia most certainly looked up to/tried to evoke], and this just seems to be another grab for attention, after the buzz from that, admittedly nifty,

from several weeks ago, wore of.
