  1. very few people (i mean not crazy nuts) will publicly admit, that they are not, or that they have actually no idea of feminism beyond "women rights" and that this is the right thing to do and political correct.

My experience with the world around me, both online and IRL taught me that the opposite is the case. Just look at how many entertainment stars in the US are vehemently denying that they're feminists, even though they have quite a liberal outlook on things. A lot of women that I know start sentences with "I'm not a feminist, but..." when they want to speak up for women's rights.

  2. Shirtgate really shows how the 24-hour-news-outrage echo chamber is bringing out the worst bits on every side, thus widening the divide, and extreme voices [which are given more prominence because outrage = eyeballs/clicks] are then used as examples of political correctness gone mad and as fuel/justification for shit like 4chan going crazy with the Times words-that-should-be-banned poll.

And shit like this just plain depresses me:

  3. I thought there were recently a lot of articles regarding some recent stats [that are using a very broad definition of games, but nonetheless] which show that the majority of gamers nowadays are women. Which is one of the reasons misogynist "tr00" gamers feel threatened - such a huge demographic shift might mean [oh noes!] more games that aren't based on traditionally masculine what-have-yous [activities? proclivities?]. Hell, I've seen online comments moaning how GTA V had a gajillion minigames within it precisely so it would be more like The Sims and appeal to those cursed "outsiders", "noobs" and women.

  4. You do notice the date on that article, yes?

It's still not been officially confirmed, although I'll be astonished if it isn't true.

My bad, it popped up on my Facebook feed, and I didn't bother to proof it [like I try to do with more... erm... substantial news articles].

  5. ‘Constantine’ has already shown a willingness to change. After a pilot episode that simply did not work, the show ditched the second lead and quasi-rebooted with episode two and things instantly got better. Episode three started delving deeper into ‘Hellblazer’s gallery of allies and enemies (even bringing up Mucus Membrane, John’s terrible punk band from back in the day) and the storytelling became more assured. It still has a long way to go before it’s must-see-TV, but things are improving. This could be a really good show.

But it seems unlikely that they’ll de-bland Constantine himself. Right now, he’s the perfectly adequate lead character of a potentially adequate procedural. Like the show, Matt Ryan is fine. NBC John Constantine is fine. However, ‘Hellblazer’ fans know what they had. We know what they deliberately changed and avoided to create this cleaner, safer version of a great character. John Constantine could have been Don Draper. Instead, he’s that guy from ‘Burn Notice.’ And no one deserves to be that guy from ‘Burn Notice.’

  6. A new interview with Angelica Celaya is out, has some hints for the future:

IGN: What can we expect from the rest of the season?

Celaya: Well, The Spectre's coming. So that's interesting and awesome. And we definitely learn more about Zed and her past. Her past comes back and haunts her in a big way. And that's going to be a huge part of the season. Along with The Spectre. And the four of us - John, Manny, Chas, and Zed - we get together and we start actually becoming a tight team. And that's going to be incredible.
