You probably never saw the Immortal Kenny Everett, I guess, mate?.
The acme of British Humour of his day.

Loved the man dearly.
Kenny Everett was just wonderful. I always adored him, found him absolutely hilarious, and was very, very sad when I heard he died. My wonderful boyfriend recently bought me a copy of Cleo Rocos' autobiography entitled 'Bananas Forever', and it is just brilliant. If you liked Kenny, you'll love that book. Very touching but extremely funny as well, and very well written.

Fair enough.

Dogpoet likes his stuff.

Is it really more damaging to the social fabric than a lot of less extreme bodymods?

I saw The Raven the other night. I was really looking forward to it, being as I'm a pretty big fan of Poe, and also a fan of John Cusack.
I was not disappointed at all. From the stuff I know about Poe, he got him pretty much spot on. The story was well thought out as well, and of course, it looked fantastic.
All in all, an excellent film.

I'm going to see Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden tonight. Two of my favorite bands ever. not sure where I'm sitting but I'll try and post photos.
I'll look forward to those photos. Maiden were just amazing when I saw them on the Brave New World tour. I'd definitely love to see them again, and I'm hoping to get to see the great showman that is Alice Cooper in October.

Crazy, Stupid, Love - Very fun movie with a full cast of likable and believable characters. Ryan Gosling was hilarious and I'm more and more in love with Emma Stone the more stuff I see her in. Marisa Tomei caught me very off guard with her character and I found her funny in a lot of parts. But Julianne Moore and Steve Carell are definitely where the film shines. The Twilight line from Moore was hysterical. Watching them attempt to connect with each other while being seprated was touching in a lot of parts. Very good movie.
Yep, I totally agree on that one. An excellent movie, and not as chick-flicky as I expected. I'd definitely watch it again, and maybe even get it on dvd.

Last weekend I watched the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland. It was ok, not too deep or awe-inspiring....but visually awesome and with some great actors. We need more Crispin Glover on screen.
anyway...
The riddle, "How is a raven like a writing desk?" caught my attention. It sounds so silly. Is there an answer?
Because Edgar Allen Poe wrote on both?

No, it isn't. It's a completely daft criticism, really. There's plenty that can be said against the flying dead cat without resorting to that sort of hyperbole a la Daily Mail, I'd have thought...

Not sure if this belongs in the Who thread or the Batman thread, but here it is...

(He's doing the proper Cesar Romero Joker, not the Heath Ledger version as well. )

Another keep it long from me. I personally think short hair only really suits a small number of people. It also makes you look younger, so I'm a fan of that for myself, of course...

People who say that about the Midlands accent are idiots.
Or any accent, as it's what people say that makes them stupid (qv people from that Chelsea programme and many politicians).
I couldn't agree more. Don't even get me started on that Chelsea or Essex rubbish, and as you say, it's not their accents that make them come across as stupid...

And we have a kind of potential pair of control observers to consult in this scientific question.
A blind person, and a deaf one!.
I have to say that a Japanese girl is ten times as interesting if she has been taught to speak English by one of the Queens subjects, as opposed to one of the other styles of English. It is instantly audible, and very sexy. Of course, eventually they progress too far in their learning and begin to correct ones pronunciation, which isn't.
And Russian girls, "Grrr, baby", except they so very often smoke too.
Well, I merely go on my personal experience, as I have been told many, many times how vile my Black Country accent is, and how it makes me sound very stupid. I think it's great, but then I'm a bit biased...

Why is it that an accent makes a person of the opposite sex like 10x hotter?
Depends on the accent... :icon_wink:

His theory in the new book about Batman being gay and into rave fashion for instance; do we know if he's ever considered the view that the batarangs, stealth, effectiveness of disguise, ridiculously lucky avoidance of bullets, and so on, are all simply a kid's idea of how a grown up could rid the world of crime
Quite possibly they might be, but Bob Kane Bill Finger was a bit older than that when he came up with the character.

Berets.
I wish I could wear one. But I can't draw and I don't fancy immigrating to France or joining the army.
Can you do mime? They wear berets, I think...

Cool, you guys look happy, that is for sure!.
He looks like Sir Patrick Moore used to!
He does, doesn't he?
Me and my daughter were both so excited to have our photo taken with him. Such a lovely person as well.

Colin Baker. He is awesome.
That is all.

Crucifix crushing, heart & intestine extraction, Mark Gatiss ! ]
"Thanks to you Breweries The World Over Will be Free of Piss Ups."
Yep, I loved all of that. Mark Gatiss was just brilliant.

I watched it last night. Loved Mark Gatiss' character. I won't give anything away, but I will say that I enjoyed it a lot, and even with any minor complaints I might have, I will be watching the next season.

For me, I'd say Little Otik would be classed as surreal, at least. If you don't mind subtitled films, of course. I do love that film for how plain mad it is. I don't know about finding it on netflix, though, but I'd definitely recommend that one if you haven't already seen it.
