  1. What sort of thing do you usually read bighappygoth41?. Hello by the way.

    Hello. :hattip:

My favourite book genre would have to be horror, but I also have a big love for SF, fantasy and biographies. I have a very varied taste when it comes to books, as I grew up reading anything, and everything. There's not many books I've refused to finish reading, let's put it that way, and when I have it's only been because they are that awful or the author expects the reader to have certain knowledge before reading it...

I've recently been collecting more and more different books that I like the sound of, and reading more and more books by people I'd never heard of before, so it's just wonderful. I could write about my passion for reading forever, so I best leave it at that for now. Thanks for asking, anyway. :boogie:

  2. Give me Kim Newman anyday. There's plenty of other film critics who know their stuff who I'd much prefer seeing on telly all the time. I guess it's just personal preference, and mine prefers even Wossy to him... Each to their own, as they say.

  3. My favourite Silent Hill game, Spain, would have to be the second one. I quite liked The Room, but it got a bit freaky, even for me towards the end, so I only bothered to finish it once. I got all of the endings with the second one, so that's definitely my favourite. :boogie:

  4. Who is this man in the photo, and why should I be aware of him?

He's a complete idiot called Mark Kermode, who is under the illusion that he's an expert film critic, when he feels the 'best film ever' is The Exorcist. It's sad that BBC2 seem to be under the same illusion as well. I really feel this is a case where he must be doing 'favours' for the boss of the beeb, as he's not even a nice guy. He's an utter moron, and doesn't even deserve to be serving popcorn in a cinema, nevermind being paid to watch films, when his mind is so narrow. I truly can't see how anyone can like him, but, that's all my opinion, of course...

  5. Amongst the many things I love are:

Fountain pens; I've had a deep love of them since I was about ten, as we were encouraged to use them at school. I'm not a very hardcore nerd when it comes to knowing much about different ones. I am learning, gradually, though.

Books, comics, films and music: I have a very wide taste in all of these.

Computer games: I've loved playing them since I was a kid, and still enjoy it now. My taste in these is a bit more refined, though, with me preferring games I'm not bad at playing, which would be stuff like the Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Silent Hill games. I also still enjoy playing Pokemon. Sad, I know, but very true...

  6. I think I was surprised mainly because when I saw the trailer, it looked more cutesy than it actually was, and I felt it was a very nicely written story, and some wonderful humour in it, which a lot of newer animations tend to lack recently.

Adding that I did really like Kung Fu Panda as well. Hopefully more animated stuff will be as good as those in future.

  7. The Dark Knight was just amazing. Totally blew me away. Has to be my favourite Batman film, so far.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Despicable Me. Very funny, and some very likeable characters, with a great story. I've been enjoying the Harry Potter films (much better than the books imo) and I've been told that the final one is just brilliant. I enjoyed Solomon Kane a lot more than I expected to after reading the book. As I've been reading some of the older comics of the X Men, I did really enjoy X Men: First Class. Not brilliant, but a lot better than the other films, I felt. I could add loads more to this, but I better leave it at that for now, anyway...

  8. His response was:

And I’m a retard detector buddy & right now I’m beeping so much I sound like a fleet of reversing trucks driven by Daleks

I like that. I apologise for being a bit naive, but I really didn't realise it was that big in Australia, which is great to know. They'd have to be pretty big trucks for the newer Daleks to fit in them, though...

  9. I think Hugo Strange was rumoured as being in this one, but it looks like it'll just be Bane and Catwoman, which should be interesting, anyway. I haven't decided if I'm going to see it in the cinema yet, as I doubt it'll blow me away like The Dark Knight did, but you never know.

  10. I have a feeling I'll love reading my collections of Lovecraft, once I get around to them. I've got quite a lot of borrowed books to get through first, but I'm thoroughly enjoying them, so it's all good. :boogie:

I've just finished The Survivor, by James Herbert. Wonderful story, and I've been told it was made into a film, which I never got to see. I definitely recommend the book, though.

  11. I've not long ago finished reading the second volume of the X Men essential, which I really, really enjoyed. So far, with the comics I've read, I have to say, the Kirby stuff and Gerber stuff are high up there on my favourites list, but I've not got around to reading that much of the older comics quite yet, so I'll enjoy seeing if any other stuff tops that. :boogie:

  12. Thanks for all the welcoming comments.

Yes, I think you know my boyfriend, and I don't think he'll mind me saying, as he's the one who introduced me to this site. It's dogpoet.

To answer the question I was asked,; yes, I do like stuff. Stuff of all shapes and sizes. Lots of stuff. I hope that answers the question well enough, anyway.

  13. Just a quick introduction, as my boyfriend has advised me to do so before posting anything, and I always take his advice very seriously, unless he advised me to read all of the X Men eseentials in one day, of course...

Hopefully, I'll be making some contributions to the threads in due course, and from what I've seen of this site, it should be a lot of fun, anyway. :)
