eh. i've got like..... 2 friends who're fans of him, one of which is more of a friend of a friend than anything, and anyone else i mention him to only know of the movie ( though they all seemed to enjoy that one ) , then i have to explain to them why that john constantine wasn't really... ya know , john constantine.

i figured that's what it was . he raises a fine point, it's hard to find a true balance between bastard john and heroic john. unless you're jamie delano ... lol

 

the fact that he actually did his homework and that the comics were like his bible are great. really makes me wonder of the show's potential if they got to delve into more great comic stories.

Remember, John did guest-star in Green Arrow during the 1980s. The back-story is all there.

I watched seasons 1 and 2 of arrow due to a friend of mine constantly telling me to watch it. I agree that its ridiculously soap opera esque, but shit tends to go down during the season finales and I dig that.

I'm increasingly hearing The Fall when reading back issues. Maybe I need to get my ears syringed or something?

idunno, as long as it replaces the hole left in my heart after the cancellation of hellblazer and the constantine tv series.

they STILL don't have this in my comic shop. i get a weird feeling they never will. i'll have to go to this comic shop at another city . usually where i get my comics anyway. the local place is more game oriented.

So the overall consensus is good? Yea? I can finally pick up a new Constantine story without going "WTF ARE YOU DOING DC " ? I don't have to tell my friends " you HAVE to read hellblazer man" knowing fully well they won't and are more likely to buy something new? ( all my local comic shop sells in terms of Constantine is new 52 shit) I can once again be proud to be a john Constantine fan? Then I'll definitely check it out.

John has shades of sociopathy and psychopathy...but he's had a fucked up childhood among other things.his ways are reaction against what was done to him...it's not really innate like that.

its pretty often speculated that sociopaths tend to have poor upbringings.

Honestly , take away a couple things and the idea of john being a sociopath makes a bit of sense.

 

He's a manipulative con artist, morally flexible (sometimes generally amoral) , an adrenaline junkie, depending on who's writing him no real remorse is shown for the dickish shit he's pulled on people, narcissistic,great poker face, and often seeming cold hearted. Pretty much all of those are traits of a sociopath and john has em in spades.
