i have yet to see him try to do a british accent but breaking bad proved how great of an actor he is, so i wouldn't doubt his ability.

their best bet would be to go with someone who's actually british but if they do cast an american actor i honestly wouldn't mind them choosing him.

  2. i'm half excited and half livid.

NBC has Hannibal, which has become one of my favorite shows now and is also EXTREMELY horrifying, bloody, and gory, which are definitely necessities for a hellblazer show.

but i think they'll have a double standard on the foul language, sex, nudity, drinking, occasional pot smoking, etc. that john is known for . atleast in the hellblazer series. i REALLY hope that's what they're basing it on too, and not from new 52 shitty constantine.

on the good side, i always thought hellblazer would work best as a TV series rather than a stand alone movie, i've even pictured it in my head. hell, i was even planning on making my own friggin' fan series for the interwebz until, well, this happened. lol. so atleast this is finally being done.

dangerous habits alone would make one hell of a season.

  3. On "Free Bird!", and morons:

(I would be, shall we say, unlikely to respond in quite so vehement a manner. Nonetheless, the vigour and passion of this particular performer's rebuttal should probably be taken as an indicator of just how frequently deployed that particular not-exactly-a-heckle is. I'm properly surprised you've never encountered it, actually).

oh, and i love bill hicks ^
  4. that awkward moment when one of these vids is yours.

that second vid is....interesting. well, mostly sucky. lol. why is it so impossible to find a good hellblazer fan film ?!

blinky productions usually has some not-so-bad stuff.

DEFINITELY my favorite nolan batman fan film if i had to pick one, and the best interpretation of the riddler in a fan film in my opinion :

yes, i know almost all of these videos are batman/joker related.

  5. Thanks, Devilyouknow! Cheers!

The only version I've found of "Been Smoking too Long" online is of inferior quality, so I'm hesitant to add it. If you could get me a quality version, I'll add it posthaste.

this is the best quality version i can find.

i'd also suggest "set the grass on fire " for highwater/good intentions or most of azzarello's run. i find it fits the tone of it.

  6. i don't remember ever seeing john butchering a man to death , so i'm not so sure what you mean about the second part. lol

Ah, but imagine if it was the point of view of an angel...

maybe if he was carrying around some book full of rituals instead of a bag full of killing tools and the angel was surrounded by a pentagram on the floor, then i guess it makes more sense :P
  7. I like.

There's two scenes in that film that would transfer perfectly - the sort-of-psychic needling match with thingy from This Life, and that victim's point of view sequence.

Want to watch it again now.

i don't remember ever seeing john butchering a man to death , so i'm not so sure what you mean about the second part. lol
  8. Now, remember bots and gills, as you are re-reading the Hellblazer epic in its entirety, you now, for the first time ever have a complete soundtrack from issue #1 (and even some Swamp Thing) all the way to the speculative playlist for #300, plus specials, one shots and a few guest appearances (like Books of Magic, and John's adventure with Sandman). And some of the resident experts in this here forum have 'thumbed upped' it. It won't jive with everyone's tastes or preconceptions as to what they think they should be hearing at certain times, but god damn it, most of the titles match up with each other! and that helps make me even prouder to be a geek than I ever was previously, kinda - COMICS! FOR LIFE!

and I say, feel free to augment the soundtrack. If anyone has a suggestion as to an inclusion, you have but to say the song's name and performer and where it should go, and it will be added. And if you have issues with a song that got included, make a compelling statement explaining why it should be removed, and it's gone (unless it's a really cool track and you're just dumb or overly religious or something).

.... i think you're probably my hero right about now.

i'll come up with a few requests :P but i agree with/ dig most of the collection that i've heard so far. great bands in there. the doors, pogues, 69 eyes, arctic monkeys, etc.

i haven't heard the entire playlist, so i'm not sure if you included it already , but for one thing i'd suggest "been smoking too long " by nick drake in one of them, particularly dangerous habits ;) .

  9. mcdowell is closer to john than sting, to me. i know john's supposed to be sting, but sting never moshed or had a hardcore element in his personage. mcdowell would have kicked the shit out of sting. i got no hate for sting, he's just less of a man than mcdowell. i probably am too.

it's okay, many people are :P

Good call. So that's McDowell as old John, Bettany as young John.

Maybe someone should just to a re-edit of Gangster No. 1?

speaking of bettany / gangster no. 1 , i'm just going to be that annoying douche that loves to self-promote his shit and suggest you check out my hellblazer fan trailer :

  10. On the one hand, the whole mysterious stranger aspect is sticking closely to the Alan Moore version of John. But, at the same time, John was a supporting character in Moore's Swamp Thing. It's hard to have an entire series about a character portrayed in such a manner.

true. it makes me wonder to this day what it would've been like if alan moore wrote any of the actual hellblazer comics.

i love writers like delano and ennis who helped flesh out the character a bit more, but at the same time i think what azzarello was really trying to do was to get back to the character's roots.

  11. hmm. truthfully i don't remember reading ashes and dust , so maybe that affects my opinion.

i guess i just liked the overall idea of it, john being in america fucking shit up.

i also tend to enjoy john a bit more when he's written as a bastard. and that's what azzarello did. he brought back his mystery, his asshole-ishness.

and if the creator of the character himself (alan moore ) said he enjoyed it, that's saying something.

Doesn't mean he actually read the entire run, did he?

touche, touche. perhaps i should refresh my memory.

i'll re-read the run in its entirety to see what everyone's talking about.

one thing i do remember is i DEFINITELY didn't like the whole "dog porn " ....scenario, but if i remember correctly that part didn't really get touched upon in the rest of the story, and for good reason....

infact i need to get back to reading hellblazer in general. i just got around to reading the "family man "storyline... man i loved the shit out of that story. it reminded me a tad bit of season 4 of dexter, but with.... you know, john constantine. lol
