  1. A new thread for all the trailers and advance gossip on films that are coming soon. Some of them will earn their own thread of course, but if you don't want to start one, put it here.

I'll start with this crazy misunderstanding that makes us long for the golden age of Scarlet Johansson.

  2. Yeah so hardly anyone talks about new telly any more, unless it's got superheroes in it.

SO I am watching Dark on Netflix.

Had to switch off the dubbed soundtrack, because subtitles carry more emotion for me.

It's excellent. A few people have connected it with Stranger things, because of course they are lazy. And a kid goes missing.
I think we're dealing with something as atmospheric as the first season of The Returned (the original french one, can't speak for the remake).

Not really a spoiler to tell you there's three timelines going on right now, but too much more and I will ruin some of the impact of the first five episodes. Its musical references are superb. They just dropped Sol Seppy and I nearly swooned. Theme has Soap & Skin, incidental includes Fever Ray and Agnes Obel, music played by characters has ABC, Flock of Seagulls, Tears for Fears, Dead or Alive (1986 you see).

Very nicely played soap opera interactions between characters too.

I recently finished Mister Robot and found out there is after all a fourth series which is a shame, although the final few episodes won me back.

Stranger Things 2 really is quite fun.
Don't be put off by the characters in their rather spot on pastiche of 1990s sci fi.

  3. Definitely a favourite of mine.

I just did a quick search of the forum and there's a brief discussion from 2004 !

Christian leading with some good thoughts.

I always thought the Times Past idea would suit Hellblazer. Now Robinson used it in his Wonder Woman.

The use of continuity and new ideas was just perfect,  without the over-egged puddingness of your Alan Moore reboots (closer to his Miracleman i guess).

  4. That's the longest I have spent with the DCTVU

    On reflection

Flash - charming better of the two senior series. Better Rogues Gallery of course.

    Leo Snart is grand.

Arrow - I'll stick with Gotham

Supergirl - certainly shows the current movies how to do it. I hear they have Jonn Jonnz

    Mr Terrific is fun.

Firestorm was excellent, and Red Tornado , they should do that elementals cross over with Swampy and whoever the watery one was.

Not sure I followed the Legends stuff or who is who.

Earth X as nazi is a tad obvious. But their Overgirl was convincing.

Also, picked up three issues of the four issue comic book adaptation of Fritz Lang's M with art by Jon J. Muth (it was published by Eclipse Comics). This is an absolutely stunning piece of comic book artwork. If you come across copies of this, make sure to pick them up. The beautiful artwork is completely worth the price, even if you've seen the movie.

That is excellent. My memory of it is that I got a 7" flexi disc of soundtrack. I wonder if that's something else of a similar time / type.

    [fakenewscheck]  I was right.

    Loved his artwork and storytelling.
