Good to see you Atticus and in photgraphical form. Unfortunately you look too respectable to be hanging out with us reprobates. :D

My pets mean the world to me and I know how awful it is when one is ill. How old is Harlan?
My giant-land snail, Loki is currantly not eating. I'm not worried at the moment cause they can go without food for ages. The first person who tells me that it's JUST a snail gets my ferrets set on them. I love all my pets.
A land snail and ferrets!
How many pets do you have Keeyah and what are they?
Loki is a great name for a pet, but why would you try and feed him currants.

... Breeding ignorance and feeding radiation.
I'm sorry, I thought this was a Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy appreciation thread.
Well done for spotting the reference. But no unfortunately this is just your typical I watch telly how about you kinda thread.

Haven't read that one yet but I've read all the previous Lincoln Rhyme novels as well as a few of his other books. I fucking love his writing blows most other detective writers out of the water.
I think his best one isn't actually a Lincoln Rhyme novel but is in a similar vein and is The Devil's Teardrop.

A topic started by John on the old forum "Should James Grow A Beard For The London Comic Con ?" where he mocked James's youthful looks.
James replied "Speaking of options: for me, growing a beard simply isn't one. There just aren't enough working follicles."
Carmody suggested he buy a beard to wear.
And Rogan posted these pics.

Thanks for the link Tom it's cheered me up no end and has relit the fire of enthusiasm for this project. Particularly the following bit.
I think that the film would owe something to David Lean and Akira Kurosawa; which is to say, both of those directors shot on location a great deal, and worked with wide formats, live crowds; they dealt painstakingly with the psychology of the individual; they composed for wide lenses and large canvases. I believe that there will be very soon, if there isn’t already, a backlash against the CGI-heavy effects movie; which is not to say that HDM won’t rely a great deal on CGI artists – it will have to use the very best of all that the visual effects trades have to offer – but one mustn’t forget that the magic of the piece is as much in the relationships as in the potential for spectacle.I really hope he can emulate the works of Lean or Kurosawa. Glad to read that he is aware that an over-reliance on CGI can detract from the story.

Tonight I have seen a film and a director that I would have no hesitation in adding to that old thread I started about films that capture the essence of Constantine.
Dead Man's Shoes
http://www.warpfilms.com/films-dms.html
Directed by Shane Meadows who has a big name in indie films here. And co-written with his mate Paddy Considine (sic) who also stars as the older brother who abandoned his mentally-impaired younger brother to join the army and escape their small Midlands hometown.
I recommended this movie in the old forum thread. Not that I've seen it myself but a mate saw it at the Edinburgh festival and heartily endorsed it.

Nooooo! You misunderstand! Your chin is fine, Jimbo. Silly pregnant lady was making obscure reference to beard growing!
Ha ha. Of course the infamous beard. :D
-
- Electricinca is wondering whether I was the heavily pregnant biker who almost mowed him down on a quiet Wiltshire road
Ha so it was you.
This thread now makes no sense at all since the merge. It's amusingly insane. I think I've finally worked out the quote/reply thing though.

This is the thread where Rogan pisses us off to the extent that we want him dead and we are forced to employ L. M. Rosa to hunt him down and kill him. :D
No offence to you Rogan. I was just explaining to the foxy little lady here.

Saw the first episode of US sitcom Arrested Development yesterday. Fucking excellent start to a series this looks like my kinda comedy show. Also I wanted to be Jason Bateman in "It's your move".
Secondly I've caught a bit of new reality TV show The Farm on channel 5. I thought Vanilla Ice was a bit of a twat before but seeing him tonight has proved he really is a [over-used word].

An essay has to consist of more than three words, Tom.

I was going to write something about the movie but I think everything was pretty much covered in the old forum.
Going to wait til I see it before I write it off.

I campaigned to get Bubba Ho Tep at my cinema for ages but to no avail. The latest I heard was that it would get a theatrical release in the UK soon.
Having just checked IMDB it appears to be October 8th. Which is just one bloody week away, but lets see if any bastard cinema gets it cos it ain't coming to mine just yet.
-
I might say that I'm an expert about movies. Don't ask for opinions though. Just the facts mam, just the facts. I'm like a walking IMDB.
Also I have a fair expertise in cryptography, biometrics and computer network security.
I am in the process of becoming a bit of an expert in copyright law.

I read somewhere recently that California has just outlawed necrophilia.

Star Wars Battlefront is something that might tempt me. I haven't bought a game in months the last one being Ninja Gaiden which I am still trying to complete.
I thought I had come to the end just now when I had defeated Lord Doku for the second time, he being the [over-used word] that slaughtered my village and stole the Dark Dragon Blade. But like most games this great it had a wee twist in the finale apparently he doesn't have the fucking Dark Dragon Blade.
It is now in the hands of the Vigoorian Emperor who has set the whole thing up so that I would kill the forces of evil which somehow imbue the blade with more power for every fiend I kill. Now he has huge power and will take over the world. I now have to battle my way to the top of the tower of his palace which has mutated into some evil weird dimensional shit. Wish me luck chums.

Bad news Rogan. I'm sorry to hear that you'll be studying Art History.

His Dark Materials is truly excellent, yeah. I dread the movie versions that they are currently in preproduction for.
Did you happen to catch the BBC radio productions of the His Dark Materials trilogy it was rather good in my opinion. May be available on tape or CD now. I've got my fingers crossed about the movie adaptation but we'll have to wait and see I guess.
Bookwise this week I have been mostly reading VALIS and I've just started The Code Breakers by David Kahn which is a huge tome of a book that is the definitive history of cryptology.

Well when you're famous like he becomes in The Authority chicks will sleep with you reagardless.

My favourite recent one bears up well to repeated listens. In his magnificent version of Nine Inch Nails' 'Hurt', Johnny Cash quite clearly sings "What have I become/ My Swedish friend". Give it a listen. He does...he really does.
(N.B. - it should be 'sweetest' friend. Of course)
So says you.
Perhaps it really should be Swedish. ;)
-
That's good to hear. I was a little concerned that we'd lose people in the move.
Hopefully we may get some more though. Just remembered I'll have to update the link to the forum I've put on my weblog.
-
Meh. Give me time to figure it out, and I'll get back to you.
Yet another gratuitous post just to break through the 10 post barrier.

The quote thing got me as well. Damn why isn't this fucking quote working and why did it turn red and become a minus sign. wtf.
I'm liking the fastreply thing though and I'm using it to post this. :D

Unlabored Flawlessness. That's the final upgraded form of the wooden sword is it not. I must look into getting that then as I have a lot of essence to spend at the moment.
