Bit of both, really. Up until about 15-20 minutes from the end, I'd probably have said "good", but then it all went completely to cock. Some lovely, audacious moments, but let down by some truly horrendous plot contrivances and unforgivably bathetic melodrama. I couldn't quite decide whether to laugh or cry at the bit where the two angels carry the Doctor aloft into the heavens, complete with a choral score which was over-the-top even by Murray "the 21st-century Keff McCulloch" Gold's standards. I can't actually recall, but I think that was the moment when I leapt from the sofa shouting "FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF!" at the television, in roughly the same manner as I did during the "clap your hands if you believe in Doctors" climax to Last Of The Time Lords.

Though I disagree about the new theme, I did hear some bits from the Peter Howell version in it. Better that,than Keff.

I like the Verity Lambert tribute caption at the end.

Naah, not quite - there was far more variation in the story lengths for the first three Doctors (although it was still very rare for a story to be over 6 episodes long - the presence of massive epics like The Daleks' Master Plan and The War Games do skew the averages slightly, but on the other hand, there were a good few 1-, 2- and 3-parters in Hartnell's era as well), but they were doing 4-parters as early as 1964, with Seasons 3 and 4 almost entirely comprised of 4-part stories. It's only Pertwee's era in which they weren't a fairly regular occurence (and even then, there were usually at least two per season).

Looks like I'm in the clear. But what of Ray Monde? In #7 Zed at first assumed that John and Ray had thing when he talked about when John came to London in the late '60s. That too was long since ignored.

I finally got a chance to see the Android Invasion serial on YouTube and enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't even know that Patrick Newell was in this story 'til I heard his voice and the only thing that came to my mind was Mother from The Avengers .

Same goes with SW Manor--although John is clearly screwing with the man...um, I mean playing with his head and...er, that is, jerking him around and....ah, hell, there's no easy way to say it without sounding like I'm referring to the handjob, not the mental manipulation....my point is that even if he was just conning Manor at the time, he still had sexual contact with him, and a completely straight guy probably wouldn't feel comfortable doing that, either.

In other words,driving Manor into suicide.

Well, I'm assuming he has an American accent.

I saw this question's already been asked sort of, but I'd like to know... will there be a reference reaffirming Constantine's bisexuality in the future?

I don't buy that Constantine is bisexual.

 

I'd accept that he's the kind of bloke who might well have experimented back in his younger, wilder days, and decided it's not for him; but as far as I know (and please do correct me if I'm wrong here), there's no evidence that he is or was a practising bisexual beyond a single passing reference to "the odd boyfriend" by a guest writer in the fill-in issue HELLBLAZER # 51.

 

Now, that issue was written by John Smith, an openly gay writer, and it reads to me like he was somehow trying to "claim Constantine for the team", so to speak - in direct contrast to the way the character had been written up 'til that point by Alan Moore, Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis, all of whom characterized Constantine as straight, and showed him in solely heterosexual relationships with Emma, Zed and Kit.

 

Same since then. Warren Ellis even devoted an entire story to Constantine reminiscing about his old girlfriends, with nary a boyfriend mentioned.

 

Okay, you could argue that Constantine had a gay sado-masochistic relationship with SW Manor in Brian Azzarello's run - but since that entire storyline was an elaborate deception being wrought by Constantine on Manor, told in flashback by contradictory and unreliable "eyewitnesses", you can't even take that at face value.

 

I'd happily write Constantine as bisexual if that's how he'd been characterized for the past 20 years. But it isn't.

I found the Yahoo profile of the girl i've been talking to via Yahoo messenger for the past week and by the look of her profile pic,she's not who she say she is. I e-mailed MissBlizz this morning and she didn't know who I am. It was there I realized that something wasn't right. Just now, i found the yahoo profile and she looked nothing like what she said. Not only that I'm upset, I'm beyond pissed off. I was lied to and I hate being fuckin' lied to.
