  1. It's nothing major, just a neat little word association.

Synchronicity pretty much means happenstance, chance, fate. John's life is all about "being in the right place at the right time" or wrong time, as the case may be.

So, John is riding the "synchronicity highway". Everything in his life happens for a reason, relates to something else happening in his life.

He can just sit back and cruise, let fate take over for him.

  2. It's all about focusing your mind and concentration.

Masturbation works exceedingly well with the sexual.

Hell, sex is magic, because it changes your view of the world during the act. Writing a short story is magic, especially if you're venting your frustrations out with words in a cleansing ritual.

It's all so simplistic, but some of it is far more dangerous than other things.

So-called "Black Magic" is not something to mess around with, and I consider it all pretty well the same type of magic as even though I use demonology, I don't believe in any of it as anything other than symbolism, so I don't care if you call it Jehovah, the Goddess, Satan, or Barbelith. If you're using for any type of gain it's using "Black Magic", and it can come back to haunt you, if you're unable to keep your focus. It actually sets up a self-made trap for yourself. What am I taking about? It's all symbolic.

And, what the hell is the purpose of even bothering if you're not going to gain anything from it?!

  3. Yeah, Peter David's run was brilliant in the 80s, but it all went dreadfully downhill from issue #377 onward.

It was still readable, but was Marvel-by-numbers, and the art became awful! Betty was always a small, blonde and then all of a sudden she's a double-D, red-head, wearing too small jeans!

Not only was the father a random super-villain, but he was a speed addicted random super-villain!

And, the teenage girl getting an abortion was also a double-D, red-head, wearing too small pants!

  4. Eventually I'll figure out a way.

It took me half an hour to figure out how to post this pic from my own computer! He admits, reticently.

    Terri was magic in person.

So Rogan, how does it feel to know that you've somehow conned a woman out of your league into loving you? I asked myself that every day for 4 years.

  5. His posts, when they're not being demeaning to women, are all the same, badly spelled nonsense about him being so poor, lonely, exploited by his evil grandparents, and serve mostly so he could get an ego-boost from people who'll say "ooh, what a handsome chappie, what girl wouldn't want you, go for it tiger", without trying to help him see his flaws. And when people like Abhi DO try to reason with the dolt, they are accused of being hostile, or their advice disregarded with the words "aw, you don't know what it's like here".

Wow! He's like an alternate world version of Peter Parker!

What If Uncle Ben had lived and Peter hadn't gotten bit by a spider?

    Read above!

  6. This was hard to judge. I gave it an 8 because the writing was good.

Actually, the plot sent a chill up my spine a few times, as it rang too close to home for me on more than one occasion.

It was one of the few times where I went, "Damn! I wish I had this all in a Trade!"

  7. "Sometimes I wonder how much sniggering would be done by someone who was seriously into the occult and picked up something like Hellblazer."

None. Maybe at Prometha though! :D

Hellblazer was never meant to be a treatise on magic, it's meant to be fiction. Sometimes the spells sound laughable....but the same sort of thing is all over popular entertainment and no one bothers to decry that unless some shameless Wicca is portrayed as kissing the Devil's ass, of course.

In fact, I'm sure Wicca crowd probably praises "Hellblazer" monthly, "That's what you get for worshipping the lord of darkness and acting as part of the patriarchal world, instead of asking the Goddess for a blessing!"

  8. "wonder how many people here have met many prostitutes ?"

Yeah, I've come across a few. NO, NOT IN A BUSINESS SETTING! I'm looking mainly at wolvy here!

All of them have had serious emotional problems stemming to childhood.

Red, I'm surprised you as a devout Marxist didn't relate to Adrian's comments!

  9. "you'd find girls are actually rather interesting sentient beings whose nature often deviates from what is suggested in sitcoms and late night movies"

Damn straight! There's a few women who are quite interesting....to the touch, to the taste, to the eye, to the smell.....

  10. Red, looking forward to your report! Have a good, safe journey!

I've always found it so funny about all these Christian fundamentalists who are always so worried about the state of Israel, considering what happens to the Jewish people according to the Bible....actually, it's a lot more creepy than funny.

Twilight-Yes, the point is we can't trace everything back historically and decide who owns land. That would be non-sensical. We have to look at recent history and see what current events are hurting what people. The Palestinians had their land taken away in recent history by outside powers and are now living under deplorable conditions.

  11. I've never posted any pictures on this site, because I don't have many personal pics on my computer or the technology to upload pics to the internet. I wanted to share something of my life with you. I'm sure eventually I'll be able to post a picture of myself here!

This is a picture of Terri. She had an internet camera and I have pictures of her on my computer.

  12. I'm letting the cat out of the bag here, and everyone is going to be pissed at me for revealing the secrets of the Forum to a novice....but we all worship the Devil here.

Actually, there's a thread about this somewhere in "Down the Local", where I do reveal that I've been involved in invocative/evocative/Goetic magic from time to time.

  13. If the main character in the Pantera comic book's signature line is, "You will show me.....RE-SPECT!!! Say it again!", it's not all bad.

Ah, don't worry about it. Doesn't every British comic writer start out writing a rock band themed comic book?

"as when one columnist on another site advised people not to buy All His Engines even though he hadn't read it) "

    Was it L.M. Rosa?

A Blob series written by Mike Carey? I'd buy it!

  14. "Sean Phillips in my opinion did the greatest number of mediocre covers. Most of his output was good but too many were basically just a scene from the comic put on the cover which can be a tendency when the cover artist and the interior artist are the same. For instance is this cover a lost scene from Ghostbusters?

But probably the cover which I think is the most amateurish is the one for #50 which is dull, bland, and looks like an high school art project. "

Agreed 100%! Phillips covers really began to grate on me.

And #50 is awful! John looks like he's trying to play a Victorian-era fop.
