What's with everyone and the boots? I like it when John dresses like shite. It means he's human, not some fuckhead who wears the same suit for twelve years without changing.

Jekins John remains my fave. He was just so human, and the stories were just steeped in Britishness, and the character was iconoclastic as fuck, as he should be.

I usually read Constantine as sexy, but apparently he's 1993 sexy
in 1993, when The X-Files came out, the buzz was smart is sexy. Oh look, they had trenchcoats and battled supernatural menaces, too.
Times have changed, and of course we can't have John as an eighies wideboy, because they don't exist in a young fashion anymore. I'll give it a shot, but I'm, not hopeful. I was about to cancel my sub when they announced the reboot.

I am doing the same. I fucking loved Dani.

Well fuck. I was pretty much on the edge of quitting the title. Now I have to see if this is going to stop sucking.

I'm working on a couple of paperback publishers for a less expensive version. I'll let you know when that happens.
-
1) Slowly developed after the utter failure to publish my first novel.
2) I started writing it around the end of 2010.
3) I've written a previous novel, and collaborated on a novel. None of these have been published.

I wrote a book, and it's been issued as part of a limited, signed three book set from Thunderstorm Books. The other two books are by Brian Keene, so that should be reason enough to buy the set. Also, there's a cover by M. Wayne Miller, and an introduction by Laird Barron.
Nicholas Kaufmann kindly let me used his 'The Scariest Part' to write about the book, and you can read that blog entry at Nicholauskaufmann.com.
I'm still not quite sure this is happening.

I have to say, despite the dumbassery of John mucking around with supers, at least he's not casting spells and declaiming. Thus far, he's being played as original John: smarter than the people around hum, manipulative, and pissed off at authority.

Well, IGN has an interesting, and except for the pronunciation of John's name, accurate introduction.

Has Chas appeared in the Constantine ?
I think he might've been in the first issue....?
Yeah, showed up in the first Search for the Swamp Thing.

Accidentally saw the cover for Constantine #19
So...... Mucous Membrane anyone?
Johnny Constantine vs Demon Johnny in a Battle of the Bands! At stake: OUR SOULS!
Why do your teasing, taunting ideas have to be better than what we'regetting in the actual comic?

I read 15 a week ago. I couldn't tell you what happened in the story. Holy shit the storytelling is bland.
It's gotten to the point where I'm just not bothering with the stuff aroubnd Constantne any more. Dropped JLD. Won't get guest appearances unless they look really interesting.
-
Great. I just noticed that Future's End--Johnny and everyone else in the future is written by Brian Azzarello.
oh goodie

Well, that's how comic back stories get made. They accrete with all the backstory filler writers for throw-away stories until some bright dick has to explain away how Davey Superhero was in Lima at the same time he was in antarctica for his sixteenth birthday.
It really is a pity they aren't using the old back story, It was a lot better.

Now I know why they didn't include any pictures with the solicitation. That looks dumber that I could have come up with on a bet.

Slash fiction, Red.
Can you do Nick Necro too?
Red, can you post a picture of yourself so I can do the full, loving, and intimate description of a Keanu-Red-Necro train?
-
We all seen it, then?
Sadly, it's Heaven and Hell again, and John's looking for redemption, using the power of the cross. I'll be interested to hear about the second episode, if they branch out to other mythologies, not justy the familiar American Christianity.

Hm. Looking like the Annuals were all new stories. Which means there's a lot more Black Max that I previously thought, but also that I suspect I'm going to spend a number of years getting my hands on a bunch of forty year-old comcs.
Thanks, guys.
-
Because I'm a fucking nerd, I decided that I wanted to read some Black Max. Black Max was a character in Thunder, which lasted 22 weeks and then was folded into Lion. After this, there were three Thunder Annuals, 1972, 1973, 1974.
The question: Will the Annuals reprint material from Thunder, or will these be all original stories?

I can only hope that someone was paying attention to the success of True Detective and makes Constantine actually edgy, weird, and horrific. It does have the advantage that showing superheroeis doing their thing tends to be expensive. So maybe they'll just stick to demons, gods, and ghosts.
-
Jesus I shouldn't read these threads unless I've got a couple of drinks in me. Even Ennis, even Azzarello, wrote better stories than what we're getting now. It's all so fucking hollow.
