  1. I'm really starting to care very little about this show. Everyone's a Cylon to the point that its stopped meaning anything and since the humans and Cylons haven't even been at odds in ages, it means even less. It's just wandering in some kind of pseudo-philosophical directionless fashion to a conclusion that is probably long overdue at this point. The only reason I'm still watching is because I loved the first half of the series so much and figure I should see it through to the end.

The admiral really chewed the scenery in that scene with Tigh. I laughed out loud at one point.

    Yes

I hit that point about halfway through season 3, and finding out about the revelations in that season finale pretty much sealed the deal for me. It's pretty clear that the stuff which interested me about the show in the first place isn't a priority for the writers, while the subplots and themes which I always found to be the weakest elements are, in fact, what they see as the core of the show.

    Ho hum.

    and yes.

It's starting to feel like an X-Men comic or something... My only remaining hope is that the existential waters they seem to be treading in get a little deeper.

  2. Apologies if I sounded snippy, I'm not good at conveying tone over the internet and sometimes I sound like an asshole in my posts. I was confused, not filled with jerkitude.

Anyway, I hope the rumor Mark mentioned turns out to be fact--- seems like a great twist, especially if the makeup is bonded in a blotchy/incomplete way.

I think this is going to end up being my favorite comic book film of all time.

  3. I don't remember where I heard this, but I seem to recall a rumour a while back that this version of the Joker was, for some reason, wearing the make-up when he fell into the acid-bath, and that the acid somehow caused it to bond to his skin in some way - ie., the discoloration is permanent, but still looks like roughly-applied make-up.

    Sadly not the case:

Go here and scroll down to "thedarkknight" series of pics: http://kungfurodeo.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/

I don't get your argument--- that site and its images didn't prove anything with regard to the question "is the Joker's makeup permanently bonded to his face?".

The image you posted was already posted upthread, and I didn't see any other images in that site that revealed anything other than that there are some Bat-imposters that get apprehended.

  4. I'm still pretty confused. At least, I think I am.

When it's all said and done I'm going to go back and read all the trades in order.

My guess is that there will be 2 more trades in the series--- ending with #13 and probably titled "Trust" or "Trust Issues."

  5. The Simpsons Movie (2007)

Far better than I expected it to be. The plot wasn't too hokey or preachy, the jokes hit their mark consistently, the animation is fluid, assured, and better than the tv version without being too much of a departure.

I definitely recommend it for any fans of the show.

    B+

    C'etait un rendez-vous (1976)

Claude Lelouch's cinema verite masterpiece, a 9-minute short film done in one take and featuring some of the most insane street driving you'll ever see. There's real drama as the driver of the "Ferrari" (that the camera is strapped to) navigates the early morning streets of Paris, narrowly avoiding cars, buses, and pedestrians while rocketing through town.

    Highly recommended.

    A

(the film is up on YouTube)

  6. Is Ravage in it? How bout Rumble?

Neither. Frenzy was the only one out of that crew, and he was really just a downsized Soundwave.

Here's the list of Decepticons in the film:

    Megatron (Cybertronian "jet")

    Starscream (F-22 Raptor)

Barricade (Saleen S281 Mustang police car

Frenzy (GPX 2-speaker CD player, mobile phone)

    Bonecrusher (Buffalo H Mine-Protected vehicle)

Blackout (an MH-53 Pave Low helicopter)

    Scorponok (a mechanical scorpion)

and Brawl / Devastator (a modified M1 Abrams tank)

  7. I don't see Constantine as being "omnisexual" these days. Once upon a time, sure, but now it doesn't quite fit with who he is.

If anyone is desperate for a Vertigo character that's open to any kind of sexual adventure, check out Carey's Faker.

  8. I've read all the issues to date, but like James my memory can't be trusted. Nevertheless, I also thought a bite was good enough for infection (assuming it had enough time to work its way into the blood). Maybe Dale is save-able?

  9. Doktor Sleepless #1

Pretty typical cyberpunk, clearly written with the female Goth in mind:

Not horrible (though some of you will think so) but not worth tracking down either.

I'd say that Black Gas v2 is worse and the jury's still out on Black Summer.

  10. Maybe DC will comission Quitely to go back and re-draw all of Morrison's JLA stories.... that would be the best thing EVAH.

Anyway, Morrison's Batman run thus far has been very meh.

Is he phoning it in? Too many projects/responsibilities over at DC?

Time for the Joker to acquire a fictionsuit, I say.

Dini's run on Detective has been only slightly better. Sadly, I think I like the non-Dini issues just as much as the Dini ones--- but maybe that's due to the art in the spooge-bomber 2-parter.

I will concede that the Joker/Robin story was pretty excellent, though.
