  1. It didn't come across like the cancer was a way to make John sympathetic. It works as a way of showing his human fragility (he chokes a lot and drinks cough syrup for some reason... to numb the pain a little, maybe), but it looks like they're going to blow that by having him turn into Neo in the big Holy Shootout at the end of the movie (and yes, he goes all limp and feeble after that, but still!).

To be honest, it came across as a plot point which had become more and more relegated to the background as the re-writes occurred.

I'm really curious about that end becauze in the trailer you see Satan healing John and all but you don't see Rachel at the end. Does she just dissappear or something? Does she even know he has cancer?

    Please spoile a little ;)

  2. Aw it's really well done, John! I loved the text that you put above the screen grabs, makes it fun. There are a lot more screengrabs around though...maybe you can use some of other sites? And maybe some movie stils?

Oh and I don't have a problem with the grey text either. It's good. I also like the picture of the comic Constantine you put on the main page. Somehow I think it's the best pic of him you could put on the movie page cos' it resembles movie Constantine a little. The evil look and the smoke y'know.

  3. Like Matadoor said, Keanu Reeves is on the February cover of Premiere magazine (found at Keanuweb.com). The issue isn't out yet, we'll have to wait a while for the article.

    It's on Club Keanu....of course ;)

I'm also curious about how a character can be SO unlikable even when he has lung cancer. I think, for me, he won't be that unlikable since I even feel with bad guys in movies (Also when they're not played by Johnny, Keanu or another hottie) because I always think: aww, they probably had a bad youth. I even cried for Nick Leeson in "Rogue Trader" anyone sene that one?

And I also don't get that people don't make up these sort of things their own. Isn't it logical that when someone is an asshole and sees things he doesn't want to see that that's probably why he became an asshole. I mean, it's always life that forms a person. And no, that maybe isn't an excuse for movieJohn to be SUCH an asshole...but it makes it at least understandable...

  4. **************************

    Happy New Year everyone!!!

    **************************

    But okay, positives...

-I honestly was surprised by the acting (at least what I've seen from BestBuy, trailers etc)

    - The effects

    - the humor

    - Keanu ;)

Constantine, strung out and irritated, making wholly inappropiate comments about the death of Angela's sister.

    That too, yes.

But...did John ever had sex with Ellie in the comics? Cos' I thought that movieJohn would have sex with just some halfbreed, not Ellie. Judging by all the content that is on she almost looks like his girlfriend in this movie.

  5. I suppose they made this one at an early stage because John still has blond hair and a green coat.

you know, thats a thought. I think Shanice is onto something here.

Imagine how painful it would be, if they used a visually correct Actor, that was English, set in London, but made the movie they are making?.

Wouldn't that hurt ten times as much as just putting "Constantine" on the movie they are making?.

I don't really get what you're saying here :glare:

  6. Most audits are both spot-on and very funny to read...

    But so's this one...

Mark, I just started to like you for your avatar, don't ruin it  Anyway, even I admit that he's not a brill actor but after the Gift and Somethings Gotta Give he showed that he can certainly act. Oh what the hell! He's so bloody cute and sweet! Just kiddin' ....Keanu's a fine actor

  7. Maddi, how can you tell a movie is any good when you haven't seen it?

If you mean Constantine - I can't tell, that's why I want to see it.

In general - I read reviews from film magazines and newspapers, starting with the American and English ones, long before the movie is out in the Netherlands. Also, I watch the trailers online. Sometimes, if I can't make up my mind whether to see a movie or not, I wait until friends or co-workers (whose taste is similar to mine) have seen it.

Naturally, that the qualification 'good', 'avarage' or 'bad' is an arbitrary one, and it's all a matter of taste. But one thing that characterises 'good' movies is that there's no discussion about plot - the story is so convincing that people wouldn't even suggest other endings or plot twists.

Oh and I'm so tired with the Keanu comments in reviews. When they dislike his performance they say it in colour and scent but when it's decent they say: "keanu is keanu and it's just the supporting cast that makes him look better"

It's unfortunate that even when he does do a good job, people are most reluctant to give him credit for it. Even to the point where some critics grudgingly admitted that he was surprisingly charming in his role as Dr Mercer in Something's Gotta Give.

And then there's stuff like this...

Well...what are they trying to say?

  8. (And just for the record - I have not seen each and every Keanu Reeves film. Only the good ones. So seeing this film wasn't a sure bet from the start.)

Oh and that Wizard article is on Keanuvision.com. Quite a funny article. Keanu says he HAS in fact read the comics. What a delight

  9. It's funny how Dutch critics (at least the one that I know) are very different from the ones in the US of A.

Generally in USA they just seem to be prejudged by which actors play in them (Oscar nominations are so important) and what kind of movie it is. If it isn't some art house, creative or oscar nominated director's movie then they have bad expectations before they even see it wich results in that they only see the negative aspects and find it bad afterwards. Particularly action and horror movies can't be good (without Steven Spielberg directing them) and that's ironic because mainstream America seem to love them anyway.

They also don't really pay attention to the intention that the film/ director has. In Holland that's different, and I'm not saying that Holland's so much better or anything.... But, but, but, but here they always rate movies higher in reviews because they keep the film's intention in mind. Most big movies have the intention to entertain and when they succeed in that they find a film good. However when a film tries to make a statement and it doesn't really work they rate it lower. But in america most of the critics seem to dislike movies that are meant to entertain. I mean, I haven't seen Constantine, but it appears to me that it's fairly entertaining and not as bad as the reviewers say. And that is Constantine's intention right? I mean, if it wanted to do something else they would've probably sticked more to the comics.

    Or is it just me?

Oh and Mark, who's that in your avatar? I love the long hair!

  10. ...it would explain why Keanu looks so pale, thin and unattractive.

Scuse me , Wet Keanu- Unattractive???

Anyway I thought these stains of blood were explained in an interview at JoBlo once. Have to look it up. It would be wierd of he coughs up his lungs without a tissue and just spits them on his shirt. They look more like cigarette burns to me then blood....but who knows...

  11. I think the people who go and see Constantine for the action, after seeing the Shotgun Poster and trailers, will be a little dissapointed because I think (considering the lenght of the movie) it's not just action, action, action. Even though I haven't read the script I get the impression that there is some kind of story too that they give some screentime. And besides that, I think we have already seen all the action/ SFX moments since the trailers all full of em.

  12. This might be the most dumb question you heard in your life but what means IMO?

    * :blush: *

Oh and I don't like the poster too. It has no variety in color just like those hell photos that are TOO red. It's not a flattering Keanu picture too and I think it's not fair they didn't put Rachel's name on the poster.
