  1. Dilemma !

I voted for Wile E. but I have postal vote from Mrs B for Taz and I could quite easily have gone for him. But ...

you know F-, I say F- Foghorn Leghorn, boy.

And were George and Junior Looney Tunes ?

You know, "Can I have a dog, can I? Can I ? Puhleeez. I will hug him and pet him and call him George !"

  2. Regarding another run of prints, I am thinking of sorting something out with Tim for the Bristol Expo, but when these ones have all been received by their owners, let's start discussing the next print run.

And meanwhile we should all contact Vertigo and advise them of the beauty of a Bradstreet Hellblazer collection.

  3. PC's fucked again and I'm typing this up from someone's house so I'll make it quick: cover's much better with the logo and writing on it; I'm impressed with the crinkle effect on the cover; Manco's art is spectacular; I'm worried about the decompression, but the dialogue is snappy.

    Hooray! I can't wait!

What do you understand by "decompression" ?

  4. It's 3/4 for me.

Loveless has not changed my opinion, although #3 is the least bad issue.

Exterminators was fun, but I suspect sci-fi sublots will over run the very nice comedy like a metaphorical nest of cockroaches.

Testament was great to look at, and the story needs longer for me to decide. I liked the first issue, and if it was a four issue mini I could see it being ace ... wait and see.

DMZ is just splendid, as I've already said.

  5. Oh boy is John gonna delete this poll when he sees it...

In fact, that might be another poll: Will John delete the nasty poll?

I'm sorry for being curious. But I am!

    Let's see:

C,R,K,B,S,H,P,P,D,V,D,K crikey, I better upgrade my answer.

Do we get to count 1st Base ?

Actually if we limit answers to the last 16 years it's just K.

  6. Monday January 16th, 9pm start, Odeon West End, Leicester Square.

    You are invited to the

    Official FDA Multimedia Screening of

    EVIL ALIENS

Running time 89 mins Cert 15(tbc)

It's official - aliens are complete bastards!. Their anal probes are a real pain in the ass, and they can't pass a cornfield without messing it up. It's time to put a stop to them before we get another series of "Mork and Mindy".

Directed by horror genius Jake West ("Razor Blade Smile"), EVIL ALIENS is not so much tongue in cheek and tongue through cheek schlock horror. A huge hit at the Toronto Film Festival, this comically gruesome tale stars telly babe Emily Booth, model Jodie Shaw, Christopher Adamson ("The Last Horror Movie") and comedian Norman Lovett ("Red Dwarf").

When a young Welsh girl claims to have been impregnated by aliens (yeah right) a cynical television show goes to the principality to investigate the mystery (and boost their ratings). They don't believe a word of the girl's story, but are willing to fake some evidence to help keep their jobs. But they bite off more than they can chew when real aliens show up, and they don't come in peace ... in fact they are very very evil. Prepare yourself for a bloody close encounter.

Please note that EVIL ALIENS is unsuitable for anyone who is easily offended (and it should piss off people who are quite difficult to offend too!).

Falcon Media Limited in association with Falcon Film Productions PLC and Quentin Reynolds present EVIL ALIENS, a Jake West film.

EVIL ALIENS will be splattered (sorry, released) across the UK on Friday March 4 by Content Film.

  7. Why would you say that he's gone more christian?

All he's done is shown a load of magicians (half of whom probably believe they have God on their side and half who believe Satan has their backs) what the reality is.

Or did you mean our Christian, ie irascible, left wing, moody ? ;-)

  8. You misunderstand what I wrote.

They no longer attend the UK conventions presumably because the business people think they can't spend the $3000 or so it'd cost to come over (Bob Wayne and Stephanie Fierman came over to Brighton last year - the latter a newcomer, Bob a regular who seems to enjoy himself).

You might want to consider Karen Berger's role in the single most creative and diverse imprint in the small market of comics. She's always been the figurehead and has got any number of talented people to work for her. Still does.

Now, I would take issue with her comments about Swamp Thing and Constanteen, but that's about all.

Vertigo (and most comics companies) are best compared with football teams - a small group of followers and that's the market - it is not always about increasing the market share with big name signings and short-term solutions. The Man United and Chelsea are Marvel and DC, but Vertigo is one of the teams that regularly stays in the Premier League - ie Charlton not West Ham.

Some of your answers seem to be geared towards changing a reasonably successful product - hyping Hellblazer by bringing in big names for example. Other than flavour of the month Brian Azzarello, I've not been disappointed with the choices of less well known British writers - Warren Ellis comes closest to being a damp squib but that's down to my massive expectations for his work on the book and it being cut short.

No, Vertigo's had it's doldrums and is currently entering one of the most creative and diverse periods of its history. Fuck the DCU contrinuity, Fuck new logos and "Fuck Communism".
