  1. You mean there ARE still people who play Shadowrun besides me and my all too small gaming circle?? Sweet, though admittedly I play Shadowrun via freeform nowadays.

wolfram, that's what I do but my friends and I produce whatever we want whenever we want cause it sucks to piggyback on only one person's work. I know how you feel though, I had to endure a lot of twinking and PWP before finding the right people to play with. Coincidently, said right people are also Shadowrunners

  2. I have Grave of the Fireflies and next to Laputa and Mononoke Hime it's my favorite of Miyazaki's films. It's also depressing as fuck which I guess is why Miyazaki doesn't do historical dramas anymore. I watched it back in highschool and wanted to show the film in class when we covered WWII, the teacher refused damnit.

Has anyone seen Twilight of the Cockroaches? That's obscure anime for you...

  3. Right now I have Bradstreet's cover from Hellblazer #203. Before that I had a landscape from Lineage II and before that a wallpaper from my favorite vue d'espriter at www.shiftedreality.com

  4. I still do Shadowrun and a lot of freeform roleplaying.

Rabbit, turn-based storywriting is more along the lines of freeform rping (it's just not always turn-based) but online you can still do things involving dice and GMs like they did back in the reign of tabletop.

  5. In fact isn't John taking much more of a stupid risk coming to Gemma's rescue with no idea of what he might have to face?

That's why Gemma says "Sod you." I imagine  I'm not supporting all of John's behavior either, admittedly I was expecting more out of Gemma than out of him.

  6. James, if she was fully aware that she was in control of the situation while Simon was not then where is the danger she speaks of about getting raped and murdered? Saying that it would have happened by virtue of the fact that Saul was messing with Simon's mind is acceptable to prove that she's already involved with the case but still she consciously chose to put herself in even more danger by letting him take her home. And yet she expresses how capable she is of taking care of herself, so is she trying to say she wouldn't have been raped and murdered at all? Personally I think she brought up being nearly raped and murdered to guilt trip John, while he was blowing her off so they're both being unfair here.

Claire, I think it is important to find out the truth but couldn't she have done so at the club? Gemma seems pretty confident about herself so I think she would have been able to see through Simon if he were to lie to her at the club. Putting myself in Gemma's shoes, if I found out the truth and kicked Simon's ass I'd definitely feel proud about it and not think about how stupid it was to go to his house at all. But say I did try to find out the truth and I did try to kick his ass but he overpowered me and murdered me then raped my corpse. I would then say I definitely shouldn't have entered his house...

Josh, I would hope women don't have to be kids to go out and have a good time either heh. I don't think Gemma should have been raped and murdered or anything like that... I just think realistically you shouldn't even try to immerse yourself deeper in danger the way she did (like, NEVER go to their room or house) because you're not always going to be able to overpower/oversmart your attacker. Speaking of while he was laying out the murder kit, I'm surprised there wasn't any mention in the comic book about how earlier he'd taken her to a slasher flick with girls getting impailed and all that heh.

Another thing about this complicated family that bugs me.... Tony found those drugs and bought the nosebleed business, what gives?

  7. Margaret Cho was surprisingly hilarious. I'm always so wary of comedy, because some of it falls so flat, but she was laugh-out-loud riotous. My favorite part thus far is when she compares finding the G-Spot to spelunking in a cavern.

Is this the one where her mother goes "What ees thees booook.... Ohhh... OHHHH." She cracks me up.

  8. It's perfectly fair to throw it at John; if she hadn't decided to slip the condom in hs pocket then she would have been raped and killed.

But Gemma wouldn't have known this had she not let Simon drive them in the first place. When she found the drugs while slipping him the condom I don't think she automatically came to the conclusion that Simon was there to rape and murder her. Date rape is a possibility but others have already mentioned that GBH can be recreational (yet she automatically assumed he'd put some in her drink and gave him the rest of the bottle). How on earth would she have known that Simon was out to rape and murder her had she not let him take her to his house right? Well to me, letting him take her there was setting herself up to be raped and murdered because she consciously chose to drug him up, let him drive, then played possom in his house. So she yells at John about being nearly raped and murdered, after she coolly tells him that she's fine. So was she in control the whole time or was she really worried about being raped and murdered? Things between her and Simon wouldn't have gotten as far had she found the drugs at the club and confronted him there. If she means that she could have been raped and murdered by virtue of the fact that she was dating Simon well what's John supposed to do about that except screen all the guys Gemma's dating  ?

It's not that big of an issue to me, but this whole scene just makes me think Gemma is not responsible enough to deserve the kind of treatment from John that she expects. Realistically I think it's a stupid decision to let this guy take her home (but one can argue she really thought Simon might take her back to her house) just to show him who's boss by busting out his knee caps, then yelling at John as if she could have been victimized at any moment. Had Simon succeeded in killing Gemma anyway one of my questions would be "Why did she let him take her home after finding the drugs???" And yeah I know it's hard to ask a comic book about a mage fighting demons and what not to be realistic  But this particular bit struck a cord with me because I have a friend who was in a similar situation and that was the last time she ever played possum.

  9. I was introduced to The Authority on the "Transfer of Power" run, so these scenes are especially interesting to me. This one would have been sick had they left it in:

This scene is the primary reason why I know your fingernails don't grow after you die.
