I think it does make some folks nervious to see a cruiser go by at mach-1 with the driver singing along to metallica .
Better than swerving down the highway to Offspring's "D.U.I." which I have done... but fully sober. Whenever I need to move I listen to a mix of high speed music like Lunatic Calm, Crystal Method, some Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, that whole crowd.
spiderlegs, are you going to Coachella? I know the Cocteau Twins are playing on Saturday. I lean more towards Dead Can Dance and Delerium.

I thought the lesbian bit was an intentional out-of-character comedy moment. I don't read Ennis' other work aside from what he did on Hellblazer but I did follow all his Kev minis on The Authority, more Ennis/Fabry. The humor he writes for Kevin Hawkins and Midnighter matches up to that whole play on sexuality in Son of Man.

It's fun until it gets in your eyes! Best to wear goggles.

Ouch. My word of mouth got two friends to go see it just over the weekend and they both liked it even though they know nothing about Hellblazer or catholic mysticism. That'd give Constantine an extra $18 heh.

I just spent the last thirty minutes yping ll supd lk hs because my keyboard didn't want to cooperate. I took the little sucker apart and vaccuumed it like no tomorrow... potato chip fragments getting the backspace key stuck and the like. That was pretty sick. Word to the wise, always keep your keyboard clean and an airhose nearby.

You threw Marta to the wolves, man.

Haha I was stuck between that and Roughwork but then I figured Roughwork was too frou frou for John Thanks for looking, it was a bitch editing out the dialogue boxes!

I'm turning this into ACX's wallpapers thread and choosing to destroy my own bandwidth instead of STH's. So below are thumbnails that will lead you to the wallpapers I've made. The links are all 1024x768 but I have 1280x1024 on my hard drive because that's the res I normally use, so if you want the bigger size just PM me. Please be patient when downloading, I tend to make everything image quality heavy.
EDIT: Wallpaper thumbnails have been re-routed to 1280x1024 res wallpapers. Large files they are.

Did you make the background yourself? If so that's some nice rendering on the textures.

Nice to see Morgan Freeman get an Oscar, I just wish it weren't for a film in which he plays Morgan Freeman.
I hate that too.

I'm disappointed yet not at all surprised.

Guy Pearce as John and Clive Owen as Chas?
I can't get Lost Boys Sutherland as young John out of my head though.
-
Clive Owen as Chas.
That's a very sweet choice. I was looking for a way to get Clive Owen in the discussion but I couldn't see him as John... definitely see him as Chas though. A really good looking and intelligent Chas.

I'd go with Ewan. He's good-looking without being truly pretty, like Jude is. Plus, Jude seems really upper-crust-like.
I read an argument over Jude Law vs. Colin Farrell for the role of Alexander, something about how if you had to follow Jude Law into battle against the Persians he'd probably be the first to die.
Kiefer Sutherland is a good choice appearance-wise.... he's Canadian-Brit by the way

Should have posted a page of Higgins' busted up John from Son of Man.... Damn that was fugly...
-
Naw, it was a live act night so inbetween bands they played a couple of songs. Definitely no Cradle of Filth though.
-
I agree with the choices of Paul Bettany or Ewan McGregor if they wanted a younger looking Constantine as well. I'd also add Larry Mullen from U2... but I don't know if he can act.

I was just trying to think of Tool songs I've heard in a club myself. "Stinkfist" is the only one that comes to mind, the last goth club I went to in San Francisco played Nine Inch Nails and some guy's cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees songs.
-
She went home with him to break his knee-caps. He was of no danger to her while he was drugged up.
Hmm... I don't know maybe drowning him in the club's toilet would have sufficed But then she would have run into Saul I guess.
-
I'm curious..... why did Gemma follow that punk home anyway after finding what was in his pocket? You think she would have confronted him at the club rather than waiting to go home with him and risk getting "raped and murdered" as she so angrily shouts at John. Kind of stupid to play drunk and see what the guy was up to or was she just looking for a reason to bust his knees?
-
WTF? they just pulled her out of a nightmare in her thong & nightie and then started barreling down the highwayy in a demon fueled car
lets see you you'd look in similar circumstances
:glare:
She was wearing a thong? Dirty dirty me....

The way Carey's stories flow into one another precludes any of the "sitting around in a bar thinking about all the shit that's just happened" breathers which Ennis, Jenkins, Ellis and even Delano used to break up the larger arcs. As a result, John bounces from one massive crisis to another, without any chance for him or the reader to think seriously about the consequences of his actions.
Thank god for that. Sitting-around-the-bar-breathers get kind of redundant. I don't know if I want to see John go through a major breakdown... but I feel like Carey's run is building and building and building towards something that so far hasn't "resolved" within 3-4 issues. That makes me want to keep buying his run to see what the guy's about to tear down for old John. I also agree with the lack of character development, but that might be due to how long Hellblazer has been running vs. how much shit John has run into. If he seriously developed over the course of that time I'm not really sure if I'd want to see what he might have turned into. John is the constant in Hellblazer, it'd be a risk in readership if he were to change dramatically over the course of 20 years like a normal human being would. Also... such a change can only be successful if Delano or maybe even Moore continued writing for him 20 years straight.

You've GOT to start using that for a signature banner

Hmm... I prefer "Mer de Noms" overall when it comes to APC. I was close to seeing them in concert with Nine Inch Nails many years ago, I really wanted to see Paz Lenchantin performing live.
To keep on topic with Constantine, I found the usage of "Passive" within the movie a little out of place. If it was to represent the music being played in the club... well, I have a hard time imagining demons and vampires getting off to it, and if it was supposed to be some kind of theme for John then it felt a little... melodramatic.
