  1. How is she not acting her age?

Pertaining to just issue #205 alone she did decide to go home with him. Sure we already know that GBH can be used for recreation but if that was a possibility in her mind why'd she put the rest of the bottle in his drink before even learning his true intentions? I'm assuming that she'd poured the rest of the drugs into his drink at the club while Simon was in the bathroom and at that time she didn't know what Simon was up to. Not only that, as James pointed out, she let him drive home drugged. So maybe she did all this because right from the very moment she found the drugs at the club she didn't care what Simon was up to and wanted to bust his knee caps anyway. That's fine if you accept the responsibility for taking the risk, but then she yells at John "I was nearly raped and murdered!" well that's not fair to use against John, she wouldn't have known about the murder part (she wouldn't have been at his house period) without having chosen to let Simon drive knowing he was drugged in the first place. I think John did unfairly blow her off like she was a kid but if he knew what the reader knew I don't think he should feel so badly about it.

And then there's another side to this... some people think 25 year olds are still kids... I don't know about that heh.

  2. ...which is exactly what I think about From Hell, though there the complaints about not doing the book justice are slightly better founded, because all of the "characters" were in the public domain anyway.

Johnny Depp is the most handsome Abberline I'd ever seen and you can bet Heather Graham plays the prettiest and cleanest whore in London  I actually paid to watch this movie in theaters hoping for a creative (not necessarily accurate) adaptation of the comic... what was I thinking.

  3. Heh, I forgot about Faith. I dunno, though, what can you do with her that won't make her slot into such a wide category?

I'd just like to see Gemma act a little more her age, heh. She has to be at least 25+ right? Yet I can still see her popping up around Sunnydale, and not as a teacher or watcher  It might be fully intentional that Gemma's character is written this way though.

  4. I dunno. Drugging her boyfriend, taking him home and smashing his kneecaps in aren't actions that I could easily attribute to Buffy or Willow (unless they were being possessed by darkness or something equally shit).

I was thinking more like Faith. And I just upped my geek factor....

  5. You're less shallow than I, punk John would be a fanservice delight to me hehe. But I also wouldn't want it to be over the top to the point where "punk" just becomes a glorified gimmick, plus we already know Mucous Membrane might have sounded like pure crap anyway. It'd just be interesting to see more of how the younger John helped to make the older John.

  6. Don't forget spoilers! Well, sort of.... that link does spoil a few scenes but it's a very good read. I don't think I've seen the Sequartsite before. The last site I saw had only the original pages, no article or anything. Seeing those pages makes me want to kill the the New Authority all over again.

  7. I'm not a fan of Gemma as well. I don't hate her or anything but she feels a bit like a WB channel character stereotype to me.... I can see her on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed, etc. I'm hoping Carey does something more with her than just letting her fill in the obligatory saucy young female ally of the good guy role.

  8. I've just decided, in fact. John'd be revisiting a variety of places Mucous Membrane toured back in the 70s - some decent little punk-era flashbacks, right there - clearing up messes he left behind, getting nostalgic, getting older. No pussying around - here's a guy in his 50s, and starting to feel it. It's time he looked back on his life properly, and tried to come to terms with where it's taken him.

I would LOVE to see more punk flashbacks

  9. Naw, they made Millar/Quitely edit it (I shoulda said edit, not censor...) but you can find some of the unedited material floating around on the internet. There's also some kind of myth about Apollo being raped during Millar's run but I've never found evidence for it.

  10. The Human on the Inside OGN is a spin off Millar's run. I thought Millar's take was an entertaining read but the artwork really threw me off. Either way it was fun watching The Authority vs. New Authority during his run. Some people accused it of being over the top in terms of violence and sexuality (it had to be censored). "Earth Inferno" was my favorite Millar story but that's because I like Jeroen.

  11. I used to get that kind of reaction from straight guys about my lack of interest in sports spectating.  It's a strange ol' world.  8-)

That's how I felt when I was living in San Francisco, it's no gray area. Ah well, I still like the city and visit every now and then, but after watching part of the Oscars all I can remember is Jamie Foxx, Million Dollar Baby, The Incredibles, and White Chicks.
