  1. I do pilates and really enjoy it, though it depends a lot on the instructor. Otherwise I cycle to work, I feel like I should swim because I live across the road from a swimming pool but my technique is terrible. I tried running but I've never clicked with it. My work also has a circle training group I did for a little while but I found it far too intense and unfun.

  2. The only thing I really don't like is Clara music. Yes I get she is on screen, I can see her. Quite happy with lesbians on children's TV to be quite frank. Representation is important.

Finally watched the awful Christmas special before watching this one, helped a bit with context of the phone call but that was an hour I wish I could get back.

  3. Book stuff

Also, during the egg cracking scene, I thought it was a bit different in the books. Maybe someone can remind me.

[ Spoiler : I thought there was some traveling singer that had been hanging around to entertain Lysa and Robin. Then when Petyr steps in to prevent Sansa from flying and pushes Lysa, he pins it all on the singer, who happened to be there. Balish also convinces Sansa to play along with the lie. ]

[ Spoiler : In the TV series the same bard "Marillion" was last seen in Kings Landing being given the option of keeping his tongue or his fingers for singing something objectionable about Joffrey. Can't remember which he chose. ]

  4. Not really. I'm responsible for getting it out of the door and fixing some problems. I haven't been involved in the early decisions because of aforementioned cancelled project but I'm absolutely responsible for delivering the actual product.

Which is this by the way.

I in charge of the cameras. Which are very complicated.

  5. The product I'm working on got awarded a Red Dot design award. Something I've missed out on for a few years because my last product that was launched didn't get submitted for an award and the last project I was on got cancelled after 2 years work. So yay, always good for the CV.

  6. Brothers was a fun little journey. Not exactly challenging but a nice piece of storytelling.

Finished Assassins Creed 4 + Aveline DLC at the weekend. Feel a bit meh about it now. The main plot is awkward and disjointed and every moment out side of the "simulation" or whatever you call it was miserable and pointless, maybe it would seem less shitty had I played any of the preceding games, I had literally no idea what was supposed to be going on. The combat and missions are the saving grace of the game though, and of course the shanties.

Will probably start the Freedom Cry DLC tonight.

  7. Been playing the hell out of Assassins Creed on the PS4.

Pretty cool game actually. The app that you can download to use your tablet as a second screen is awesome and I hope that future AAA titles learn from that. The sea combat is great and well balanced with the land combat and there is plenty of varied things to do. But the best part, by a long long way, is the shanties.

On the PS4, so far it's great. The new user interface is so much better than the PS3. It's not mind blowing, though, because the PS3 interface is less than good. And it's pretty damn quick to load things.

I have some niggles, I can't prevent audio over HDMI, so I have to mute the TV. Something that I could do with PS3. Also the DS4 battery life is pretty sucky compared to the DS3. In my opinion a new product should always at least equal the performance of the previous version. Oh well, it's not like my own management doesn't seem to agree with me on that anyway.

  8. Hah! Sadly the same cannot be said about around here. I've now ridden it on very loose snow, very hard work, I can see why people go even wider. But my ideal of speeding along preprepared cx ski trails has not happened yet because this winter has been shit.

  9. This thread shouldn't be dead.

No such thing as out of season.

So far it's been off road once without snow and around the block a bit with snow. Need to bite it and do some night rides if I want to get any time on it before the holidays.

  10. I'll be getting a PS4 but I won't be playing it till Christmas. Admittedly I don't think that much of the games line up at the moment (I have Knack pre-ordered just to have something to do) but I have high hopes for next years titles, especially Destiny.

  11. Doing some quick googling, turns out it is intended to be a 60KM diameter Stanford torus 3KM wide so the scale on screen was correct. Which brings up a new issue for me, at the speed required to hold an atmosphere is from a vacuum at such a small diameter the wind would be amazing. You would have to place baffles at quite small intervals to prevent the whole thing from being a constant tropical force storm. That and if you actually do manage to spin to hold air pressure against the vacuum of space your going to need a hell of a lot more than 1g.

It's bad sci-fi not because this doesn't work, but because it doesn't work and they did it for a plot point that they couldn't be bothered to work around.

  12. A lot of good points, especially about the [ Spoiler : stupid radiation kiln ] bit, and the [ Spoiler : bloody drones they suddenly remember, it doesn't get any better by the way, but I'm not going to bother listing the remainder of the stupid plot points, nobody has that much time ]. I was expecting you to react to the Elysium atmosphere thing though, and that does lead to my issue with it. It's supposed to be a Bishop Ring which is a hypothetical construction that I find quite interesting. I think they may have even used appropriate dimensions, they just failed to give it the right sense of scale on screen. A lot of the cinematography was similarly poor.

  13. It wasn't very good. I'm curious as to what struck you as cinema leaving worthy though. The only thing about it I found actually unwatchable was the final fight sequence, which may well have been fantastically choreographed but you would never be able to tell by what ended up on the screen.

  14. Finally pre-ordered the PS4, with Watchdogs and Knack. Really need to focus on finishing Ni no Kuni and Uncharted 3 before it eventually hits, wife wants Last of Us as well, maybe now it's getting darker I'll get through these things. I've become such a casual gamer.
