  1. That was surprisingly well done and no other criticism that I've seen has mentioned the idea of the flight attendant.

I've not been to the cinema since Toy Story 3, but did recently see on DVD a documentary called

Confessions of a Superhero which is about a bunch of struggling actors who dress up as superheroes such as Superman, Batman, the Hulk and Wonder Woman and stand along Hollywood Boulevard hoping tourists will pay them to have their photograph taken alongside these "heroes".

Unusual film and a little depressing, but very interesting.

  2. I saw it on saturday and yeah it made me cry.

The general consensus seems to be the [ Spoiler : holding hands going to the incinerator ] scene is the big weepie

That scene was indeed the one that got me going, I thought it was beautifully moving.

when [ Spoiler : Andy was giving his toys to Bonnie at the end, telling her all about each of them ].

I loved that scene too and [ Spoiler : it was the perfect ending for the toys to be played with by Andy for one last time as they transitioned to becoming Bonnie's ].

    Spanish Buzz was hilarious.

  3. Can a single individual survive with around 14.500 pounds per year in Lincoln, England?

I'd say yes, I know people that live on similar incomes in Bath and I'm sure that Lincoln is more affordable than living in Bath.

Is this just a random question or are you thinking of moving to England?

  4. As to Jason's criticism about why the baddies just didn't kill him there and then instead of merely imprisoning him I think that even though the Alliance believe him to be the cause of the fracturing of the Universe they recognise that he's also far too important to kill and should be kept around if the Universe needs saving in the future from some threat other than themselves.

Nice theory. It'd have been good if there was any evidence for it in the episode, really.

Yes it would have been good, and it is a little bit of handwaving on my part but it has happened time and time again that the villains don't kill the Doctor when they have the chance. Now of course that is done because for dramatic reasons but you have to assume that there is an in-story reason for it too even if it isn't shown on screen so I'm just leaping to a logical conclusion.

Perhaps all will be revealed and explained next week (though I'm not really betting on it).

  5. I enjoyed it, parts of it annoyed me and it was probably one of the weakest episodes of the season but I did enjoy it. I'm sure there are millions of kids out there that loved it and were wowed by the idea of the Pandorica being created to contain the Doctor.

  6. Orange customers get 2 cinema tickets for the price of 1 on a Wednesday.

They txt the word film to the number 241 and then they get a txt in return with an 8 digit code to give to the cinema cashier.

The slightly strange thing is that the cinema does not get reimbursed by Orange for all the free tickets, instead Orange is promoting the idea of cinema-going with their advertising campaign and so the cinemas get more paying customers in addition to the free ones.

  7. Oh and yeah neither of us was particularly impressed by Paranormal Activity. I guess it would work better if seen in a cinema with the right audience.

An audience where everyone is really getting into the film and that kind of mass consciousness thing happens where people's reactions become magnified by everyone around them.

  8. I really enjoyed House of the Devil and the 80s retro thing is extremely well done. So well done that my girlfriend thought that when we watched it together that it was yet another of the horror films made in the 80s that I've forced her to watch as she would have been to young at the time to see them.

  9. He 'died' in Final Crisis and I think kinda in Batman: RIP too, but I think it was Darkseid's Omega Beams that seemed to have killed him in Final Crisis that sets off this whole time-travel Return of Bruce Wayne thing.

  10. Well I've gone and cast my vote in the local community centre and was stuck behind a woman who was not allowed to vote because she was a foreign national I think and a little old lady who was casting a proxy vote for a friend and was a bit confused about how to go about it.

For the first time in along time I don't feel like I'm wasting my vote as I've moved from a safe Tory constituency to Bath which is a relatively safe Liberal Democrat seat. There was some worry that the bloke that David Cameron parachuted in might sway some of the electorate but Don Foster has campaigned well and has attracted a lot of the young voters. There has apparently been record numbers of students registering to vote here.

On a national scale though I'm a little depressed as it seems that the Tories might get a majority or near as damn it that they can do a deal with Ulster Unionist party.

  11. Way to go out on a limb there Mark, but I think you could well be right. I think Matt Smith has stepped into the role with some aplomb and by this fourth episode has made the role his own, his Doctor is fantastic.

I thought this episode was bloody fantastic too right from the moment River Song blew the airlock and was sucked out into the vacuum of space knowing that the Doctor would rescue her.

The Weeping Angels were even more creepy and scary than in Blink. The concept of whatever holds the image of an Angel is itself an Angel was a brilliant new twist and was terrifyingly used. The Angel talking to the Doctor through the voice of the dead cleric Bob was shocking and brilliant.

    I can't wait for part 2.
