  1. Whatever Constantine "is," I always figured he was pretty secure.

Seconding Diggle's take. Admittedly, I didn't enjoy the introduction arc of the final series of "Swamp Thing," but your current work on "Hellblazer" is deliciously awesome. Your take on Constantine was one of the few things in it that made reading it all the more enjoyable. Your run so far has brought me back to picking up the monthlies on the day of their release.

You've already cleaned up almost two decades of build up on the character and I'm convinced you can carry a story arc without fully relying on Constantine. The "bisexuality" issue is in canon regardless, and I am confident you can definitely do a much, much better job of addressing it.

  2. Hey, STH. Long time no see.

First off, Diggle, thank you so much! Your current writing on the series has been nothing less than fantastic and what you have done with John brought much needed life back into the series. It's fresh and sharp. Manco's art enhances it. I look forward to what you have in store for Hellblazer in the future.

That aside, I want to second Rassmguy's statement that because of those additions to John's character, while not handled in the best manner possible, I think the 'shoehorned' aspects can be tidied up and made into something believable for his character. Carey did some "clean up" on the series, but I don't think recent circumstances allowed for John to really settle into any kind of relationship. However, since his return to London, I believe the bisexual precedent can be better set (or otherwise removed).

Andy, your post is wonderfully reasoned but I have to disagree still. He likes women, I think he was referred to as a womanizer in Swamp Thing (been awhile), but I don't think John is completely straight as well. You renewed him back to what I feel are his Swamp Thing roots so far, at the same time I don't I see anything wrong with taking the character in a direction that differs from the majority of his tradition.

  3. And there we diverge. :) I'd like the title to be based on good ideas and good stories; I'm happy to have John used as a means to an end.

Of course, but I'd like writers to showcase their strengths if it makes for better reading than what we have been getting. Then again, I didn't like Empathy very much. My gut sank when I found out there was a continuation.

She has good ideas but when it comes to piecing them together into a story, it hasn't been working out so far. She has already shown she can write a strong Constantine, it's just doing something more with it.

  4. Baah. I'm guilty when it comes to writing fanfic. Nothing wrong with writing your own stories and speculation?

... Yes, provided it's done right. I seldom read fanfiction nowadays, unless it's recommended. Years of sifting through garbage to the point where even the humourously bad is nothing new can do that to you. That and you have seen almost nothing from me because I know when shit is shit and shit stays on the computer.

Can I take a stab at prosing this, if I can alter some things like dialogue? I liked the script but the dialogue was what got me.

  5. I had to read this in two sittings. That's a first.

It looked promising, then kind of threw itself into a wall. Nothing new to add to the complaints, but I will say I like how Mina writes Constantine. I really do. If she gets her storytelling together, she'd be great. If she wrote about John's personal life instead of these slow slow megaarcs, I might be enjoying this more. I read Hellblazer to read about John Constantine; you can stick anyone else in the situations he goes through but J.C. is J.C. And I used to be excited about the new Hellblazer coming out every month!

Cucina's art was nice, very nice, even if I found John a little smarmy at points where I think he should have made another... more appropiate expression. Or I am used to Manco and his John going from shadowy man of mystery to emo "jump-me-up-the-submissive-butt" mode. Writing and drawing John as a one-note enigmatic conman works alright in Swamp Thing but not here. Then again, I could be wrong but I remember John grinning disturbingly a lot.

  6. Thanks, guys. :3

Gen: Awww, how deep. Are you referring to Hollow Man, I think...? Or something more obvious and recent that my silly little head can't recall?

Josh: The first two, yes. D: Sometimes I think I put too much time into them. The second two I kind of schlocked to get used to the medium again.

ACX: Bugs are delicious. Have a bowl today!

  7. I have a few questions about John Constantine.

    1) how tall is John?

    I've seen from 5'10" to 6'0".

The rest I have no idea. I think he likes whatever he can nuke in the microwave.

  8. I'm glad I clicked on this. It was coming on at that moment.

    Watching it now.

Edit: Baaah. I have no idea how much I missed. I saw ... three minutes of it?

  9. If I can find it and gather up my prismas (or buy another box -- whee!). There are several places where I think it could possibly be. Or I could do a new freaking one allllllltogether... With all the other things I need to finish at my slow pace. D:

I like pigeons more than wolves but I like fur textures all too much.

Edit: HAAAA. I FOUND IT. It was wedged between a case with some other large and subtle pieces of paper. A little curled up and warped but nothing being under several volumes of large, epic phonebook trades won't fix.

  10. Fire Griffin-Read about my exploits with this in the "Trouble Logging In" thread of the Site Updates section.

So it's not just ACX then. Huh.

    Alrighty. Thanks, Christian!

  11. Wondering if this ever happened to anyone:

I was trying to link a post to here to ACX. She got hit with a trojan upon clicking the link. I talked around with my friends and so far, it doesn't seem to be on my end (or is it?). Not really clear about the details.

Either way, thanks to this menace, ACX will be lost to the cyberwebz forevar!

  12. Thanks for the comments, guys. It's appreciated. :3

The alien is in prismacolor colored pencils on bristol board. Not sure about what kind of bristol.

The wolf stuff was done on a large art pad you can buy at any art store with charcoal (combination of compressed, vine and pencil for shades 'n' detail) and white conte. I smudge with cheap paper towels I snatched before I finished the college semester.
