I had a dream I was living a happy normal eventful life. Had friends, a wife and a nice house. I then woke up this morning pissed off because I realized I lived in a boring non eventful life which has become nothing but a void.
Been there, man is that depressing.
I had a dream that I was mad about being thrown out of a convention for making a fuss during a panel aboutt the "Lesbianization of the IT Industry."
Can anything be Lesbianized, much less the IT industry?
Doe we even have the technology?
And if not, WHY NOT!?!

MWAHAHA!
I'm Jason!
Actually I'm still silly, old, dull me, only more bored and less sober.
I liek your hair/.
That confused me for about 30 seconds. I need coffee.

Tom Baker is the most beloved and popular Dr. Who, I agree with you, he's the best! :D
I love Hartnell, myself. What do you think, hmmm?

Just finished World War Z: An oral history of the zombie wars by Max Brooks. I highly recommend it, as for what's it about, well I think the title says it all.
Oh Yes.
I read that when it came out and loved it. I hear they're making a movie, but I don't see how that would work. I have it on CD, and what I listened to was cool...different actors playing the parts (Alan Alda!!!!) and all.

White Noise by Don DeLillo - I wasn't really crazy on this one. On the one hand, it was an incredibly smart book, with a lot of neat themes, but it was pulled off in the most cold and distant way. The characters were absolutely lifeless to me, and there sudden, random bouts of philosophizing struck me as really false. It seemed more like a bunch of themes and ideals that DeLillo wanted to talk about, so he framed them in a pretty shakey narrative. Also, I don't really understand why all the critics call it a funny book. It was clever, sure, but definitely not that funny. Disappointing, overall.
Have you read Libra? That was a good one.
-
Thanks. I'm just hoping it convinces somebody to buy a copy of the book.
What? You wrote a book?

While our computers were down at work, I read the 1st 60 pages of The Plague by Camus. The main character is almost the opposite of the main guy from the Stranger: He is appauled by everyone's lack of motivation. He seems to be the only one trying to do anything.
So far, it's good, if not a little creepy.

Aaaawwww.
Are you getting anything from the tooth fairy?
Well, my mom paid the dentist's bill, which was like $150. She also paid the last one, which was closer to $250, with the x-rays and all.
-
AAAAAnnnnnnndddd....my weekend will start like the last one! I had dental work today. Had a tooth pulled. I'm all hurty and bleedy.

I'm fully clothed, just strapless.
Why don't you tell us there's no Santa while you're at it?!?

That Fell collection rocks.Cassanove looks interesting,I might give that a try soon, lemme know if it's good?
I started to read Fell, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it's because I don't like the artist.
Sure, his stuff looks cool, but it's no way to tell a story.

Fun Home by Alison Bechdel-This is a really good book.
It's the story of Bechdel's childhood and her father's death. It's about Bechdel discovering that she's homosexual and figuring out that her father is also. There's a wonderful contrast, showing that even though Bechdel and her father share a sexual orientation, the two couldn't be more alienated from each other. Her father was a high school teacher and a mortician. It's funny and sad and disturbing, and certainly one of (if not The, but my memory is bad) the best graphic novels to come out last year.
There are a lot of biographic comic books on the market now, seeming to follow in the footsteps of Harvey Pekar. While some of them are wonderful and a treasure to the field of comics, I'll be the first to admit that a lot of them are derivative and moribund, and the author certainly finds his own life far more interesting than anyone else will, and he could've saved his time....but Fun Home does not fit into that catergory. It's a book with something to say, and ranks alongside the best autobiographical comics. So, even if you're tired of autobiographical comics being shoved out constantly with nothing to say, don't let that put you off this book.
Could this be the next Maus, what with all the critical acclaim it's garnered?
The softcover edition looks really nice too.
Grade: A
Yes! The conversation with her father in the car is brilliant!

As Derren Brown will no doubt confirm. Anyone seen him getting the bookies to pay out on a losing ticket at the dogs? Fuckin brilliant.
You know, though...I was watching his show, and he says, "I am not psychic. I use tools of manipulation and psychology that con artists use" or something, and my first instinct is to ask, "What, like a documentary format and a promise that you don't use actors?" I mean, "This is the dog your looking for" was an obvious reference to the Jedi Mind Trick...

It's great when a couple share each other's interests even if that interest is toilet facilities.

From Bad Signal:
badsignalME
THE ENGINE will close a little before midnight UK time
on August 31 2007.
The first year was about getting creators together and facilitating
conversations that didn't have anywhere else to go. The second
year was about just providing people with an interesting place to
talk. Two years is enough. Time to move on.
So you've got three weeks to mine out the place for the data you
need, exchange contact details and all that.
I've informed Andrew, the host, of my intent -- it's up to him whether
or not the Engine remains as a static archive, though I've told him
it's
not necessary. The search function has always been a bit weird, so
I'll be opening a thread for you to help each other find what you
need.
http://engine.ning.com will remain open -- in fact, I'll add a forum
function to it for those of you who want to stay together and stay
talking.
At this time, I have to extend my thanks both to Andrew, and to my
team of moderators, who took a lot of crap for no reward at all:
Jessica,
Maddie, Rachel, Ariana, Victoria, Melinda and Lauren made it a better
place for me, and for all of you. Also, I have to thank Charity, who
did
the initial design and installation, Brian for providing the Engine
marks
and logos, and Billy Gray for early mechanics and troubleshooting.
As for me: well, as ever, there's a plan. I won't be out of the
online
community game for long. News on that will follow later in the month.
Thank you all. It's been fun.

OK....most of the shit is sorted, now. Took me all day to get it fixed, though. I worked harder on my day off than I do when I am on the clock!
My tooth still hurts.....
HAHAHAHA! The breaks went out in my car! I almost got into a wreck! Also, I got a card in the mail saying I need to go to the post office and sign for a letter from the courts! Apparently, I'm being sued by a creditor! I'm going to have to go bankrupt, and I'll probably be living in my car! Which is dangerous because IT HAS NO BREAKS!!!

Good to hear it, though I hope your toothache goes down.
I speared myself with a sewing needle, but there wasn't enough blood so I didn't take a picture.
I hope your puncturing feels better...
One peice of good news...A letter I wrote to the newspaper was published.
