The latest trade Dirty says on the back that it's the penultimate volume. That's going to make the last volume rather large at 12 issues and it wont be out for ages
I can't wait until it's finished so I can read it from the start in one go, because each time I pick up a new trade I can't remember what the fuck is going on, or who half the characters are.

Failing to find a copy of season 2 of The Wire, I'm thinking about checking out Carnivale. Is it any good?
It's very good, but got cancelled at the end of Season 2 and didn't really tie up anything before it did. If you can put up with the frustration that it has no end then go for it.

I just finished watching season 2 last night, I thought his english accent was "Spot on". I loved the line "There was two of them I was outnumbered"

I'm reading The Magus by John Fowles, which is about a young middle class Oxford man who is sick of England and his relationship with his girlfriend and goes to a very quiet, very out of the way Greek island to teach in an English-style "public school", and meets a mysterious wealthy man. It's a thick book (668 pgs in paperback) so I'm only part of the way into it. I love Fowles' writing. It's a good book for people who enjoy reading very capable stylists. The book was laying around at Diana's, I picked it up out of idle curiosity and fell into it.
That's my favourite book, when I first read it I spent an entire work day sat in the same position, I had such severe cramp in my lower back that I had to be carried to a car and taken to hospital, where I was given a painful injection and laughingly diagnosed by the doctor as having the first case of repetitive non-strain injury he'd ever encountered.
By the way don't be tempted to track down the film they made of it, It's awful. Micheal Caine plays Nicholas Urfe.
I'm reading Lud in the Mist by Hope Mirrlees at the moment, Neil Gaiman liked it.

I am currently experimenting with my new bean to cup coffee machine, I've just had 4 espressos in a row trying out the different grind settings and coffee strength. I think I may have to limit further experimentation until morning time or I'll be up all night.
Any coffee bean recommendations?

Cool!
Now a photo of your old wife.
My old wife
Thanks for the kind comments, I especially like the "young" bit, she is but I'm older than I look - or so I'm told.

I got married on Saturday - and it was fantastic.

The second Starman omnibus isn't coming out until January 2009. So at that release rate it will be two more years before all 5 are out.
-
Well if that's for for real, it's one of the best kept secrets on TV for a long time. Was anyone expecting that ending?
-
Either I've forgotten that Rose always talked like that or travelling between parallel universes makes her sound like her mouths stuffed with cotton wool.

The Starman Omnibus - Volume 1, Picked this up for £20 from Forbidden Planet mail order, which I thought was very reasonable for 17 issues in hardback. I've never read it before and I'm very much enjoying it.
Does anyone know when the next one comes out, I can't find any info anywhere?

And Metanoia? Are you just taunting Mark with your series numbering? You don't want to get him started.
What do you mean? Was there Doctor Who before 2005?

For those of us just catching up, what happened to the Doctor and Rose (the hot blonde) from 2 seasons ago. She overlapped to the current doctor, but I never saw the episode in which she disappeared, nor did I see the episode in which the doctor changed. Donna signed on in episode 1 of this season, correct? If you know the actual episode numbers, I can find the torrent. Thanks!
Sorry for my huge lack of knowledge on this topic, please to forgive.
Season 1 Episode 13 - The parting of the ways - is when he regenerated
Season 2 Episode 13 - Doomsday - is when Rose went
Donna was first in the christmas special -The Runaway Bride, just prior to season 3 (torrents often call it season 3 episode 0), then she's been in it full time from the start of this season.

I'd rather that explanation, than everything being explained by the unknown properties of "exotic matter" on the island as mentioned in the finale.
Was hoping for more questioned to be answered in the last episodes, but will certainly be interesting to see what direction they take for the final season (if it is still the final season! )

Russel T Davies officially steps down to be replaced by Moffat. BBC story
He's written the best episodes of New Who in my opinion so it makes me happy.
-
It's right back on top form the last two episodes, I just hope it maintains this pace until the end. I thought the ending was fantastic, I wonder where they've gone?
-
The "Are you my mummy?" line was great. The flash of Rose on the monitor in the tardis was interesting too (I didn't imagine that did I?)

So the teaser for next weeks episode
The Doctors daughter
is this a totally new revelation?

Episode 5. Worse. 2 Parter so I can only hope they are going somewhere good with this. Still not as bad as boxing episode.
I preferred the boxing episode. Apart from the first 20 minutes of episode 1, this season has been the worst so far. I know we're only 5 episodes in, but it's the final season so they should make every episode count.

Why is the polar bear making more sense?
I thought that was a great episode, although still hugely annoying that Locke didn't get Ben to explain what the smoke monster actually is and how he controls it. Wasn't expecting Bens daughter to actually get shot then, when I was watching it late at night having just watched the latest Battlestar Galactica just before it, I thought maybe she was the fifth cylon, maybe I shouldn't drink so much.

I just sat here pondering that question and it's started to hurt my brain, they're all so good, there's not a single duff episode throughout, but at a push I'd say Season 1. It just surprised me episode after episode as it got better and better.

I saw the original Directors cut at the cinema, so it was released there, probably only a limited release then too.
