As if Quick Ben would have trouble against Snape. Quick Ben is winning at the moment by a fair margin

I read Little, Big a couple of years ago, very enjoyable read as I recall (and I don't recall much due to my abysmal memory). It's like a cross between Gormenghast and Lud in the mist.

23rd April is the start of the new series, both in the UK and USA.
-
You can buy Marmite in the US can't you, that should be on your list, at the top.

Looks like Javier Bardem is playing Roland in the Dark Tower films/series. Quite happy with that choice. Still hopeing they cast Aaron Paul as Eddie.
I am a big fan of Bardem. He's a fine actor. However, I've not read the Dark Tower series. Is it any good? King has not been that good in recent years.
I really enjoyed them from start to finish but I think the general consensus around these parts was that the last few books weren't as good, they definitely dipped towards the end (apart from the very end). They aren't Kings best work.

Michel Gondry is apparently going to direct Phillip K Dicks UBIK. That should be interesting.

I think I may have exagerated saying the last episode was very good indeed, what I should of said was it was a lot better than it usually is.
-
Is anyone watching 'V' it's been a bit better the second season and the last episode was actually very good indeed.
-
The other Uk one is a spinoff from the 2nd episode of the current series. It's on the web only I think.

This site has some real gems on it - Iphone predictive text mistakes It may just be my purile sense of humour but I've literally been crying with laughter at some of them. It's been a productive morning in the office so far.

According to a few other forums I peruse Walking Dead will be back in July rather than October as will Breaking Bad. Hope that gives them enough time to maintain the standard of season 1.
-
Unfortunately a one off hand painted, otherwise I'd buy one.

Not to mention the jawdroppingly incredible performance by Natalie Portman. She is so so good in this.
Correct. I was talking to a friend today who complained about the
fact that the movie takes a good hour to get to the psychological break and the horrifying bits
, and my only response was: it's Natalie Portman. As long as they keep showing close-ups of her incredibly expressive face, I will never get bored. Her intense physicality makes this movie, and she's onscreen the whole time.
Agreed. If anything, I preferred the disturbing slow build-up to parts of the third act. It's clear that she really put a lot into the role - she looked like she would drop dead of malnutrition through half the movie. Christian Bale, eat your heart out!
How strange, I was just a few seconds ago reading how Natalie Portman thought she was going to die whilst making it, here
Just watched it, thought it was excellent

Spoilers for season two of the Misfits ahoy....
Season finale was quite frustrating, the usual funny character bits were there but some ugly plotting (the 'lactose intolerant' line from Curtis has to be up there with the clunkiest ever on tele) and the always-horrible 'it never happened' time travel get-out really dragged it down for me. That said, Simon flipping up his hood was a great iconic moment that made the whole endeavour worthwhile for me - guess it even softened the blow of Curtis rewinding time in that we'll get it again at some point!
The Christmas special was a lot of fun, Nathan's new-found love was maybe rushed a little but the lass playing the new apple of his eye is brilliant - the two characters are perfect for each other. Decent cliffhanger though annoyingly it offers the perfect chance to get rid of Curtis' story-breaking time travel power whilst lumbering him with circumstances that alway him no possible chance of doing so.
I thought it was made quite clear that Curtis time travel power was no longer available as a Jewish guy bought it to go back and kill Hitler.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the next season of Dexter would be the last. I was very underwhelmed by the finale, worst episode of what until that point had been a great season.
-
Weeds' worst season is over, complete with a cliff-hanger that will actually have me tuning in next season, as it was one of the only highlights of this season, which was a meandering mess.
That wasn't the last episode, it was on last night.

What's wrong with Zac Efron?
Nothing wrong with Zac Efron per se. Except for the fact that he shouldn't play Kaneda.
The same way I like Keanu Reeves. But he shouldn't be allowed to play Spike Spiegel.
Well this should cheer you up "representatives for the Hughes Brothers, who are directing the movie, have said that the rumours about Efron playing the lead role in Akira are "not true"."

Series 2 of Misfits started last night. Well worth watching in my opinion, it seems to get the balance of comedy and drama just right. I'd watch the first series first though if you've not seen it before.
-
I just this second finished watching it. All kinds of excellent, loved every second of it.

The latest Community Halloween/Zombie episode wasn't as great as it should have been. The only bit that made me really laugh was Abed saying to Troy "make me proud be the first black person to make it to the end". It was still good but this whole season so far is nowhere near as funny as the last.

Anyone been watching No Ordinary Family? The new show about a family that gains superpowers? If so, any views to offer up?
I've watched the first 3 episodes, it's not bad but it's not that great either. Not as good as the first season of Heroes but better than rest of Heroes. It's just strange seeing Micheal Chiklis doing anything but Vic.
-
Did you all notice the Abed story going on in the background throughout the last episode of Community, I had to re-watch it after someone mentioned it to me.

Just jumped on the Walking Dead bandwagon, and read vol 1 at the weekend.
While I thought it was great storytelling throughout and wonderful artwork, the final two panels really excelled. Little Carl's last line in the book really brings home the loss of innocence and the feeling that once something happens, nothing can ever be the same again. It brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.
I'm sold. Vols 2 & 3 currently winging their way to me from Play.com, and I'm looking forward to them greatly.
There is a compendium edition that collects volumes 1-8, it's cheaper than buying them individually. (even if you have the first 3)
