Everybody in holywood is old...and zatanna is about 30 in justice league dark.but i got a few alternatives.Sure as hell not picking selena gomez,zoe saldana, or gabrielle union.I would say lyndie greenwood or nicole beharie from sleepy hollow would do nicely...i dunno any latina female actress who i think can do action.I am not going on only looks that and ability..

actually ,monica belluci i can easily see as madame xanadu and ewan mcgreggor migt be able to pull a john connstantine...but it'd be weird because we all know matt ryan as constantine.and zatanna cast as black or latino isn't actually that bad because she lacks a definate background.we know her dad is italian,which is why sge has dark hair and usually tan...but her mother is ??? and obscure enough that you could get away with a race swap..that would make zatanna mixed without taking from plot.because for zatanna ,there are too many dcu incarnations,age and background swapping etc.and just look at her:

Not totally. He's still a tease. He always talks about ex-boyfriends and dating men, but we've only seen him having sexual relations with females (mostly female demons actually). So, there's a lot more talk in this version than in HB, where he rarely ever even talked. But, it's still our same ol' John. "Yeah. I'm bisexual. I just choose to solely sleep with women."

I guess the authors know that all the money is in John hooking up with that hunky guy, and is stringing the readers along, keeping us reading this boring tripe, until the big moment. ; )

The big reveal will be that he's a liar and has been pretending to be bi to hide his shameful secret....that he has a demon fetish.

probably true,but i don't really like this incarnation of john much more than nu52 john.i feel no sympathy for this man.no redeeming qualities thus far .just a creep who spends too much time with demons in the wrong ways .and his magic origin makes me wanna kick his teeth in. as his sexuality i won't be satisfied til i see him in oliver's arms....but then again it may kill him.

 

i think people are still squeamish about lgbt in the comic space (a mostly white,heterosexual,cisgender male subculture)this in america/the west. not a problem in jp cuz yaoi is an actual genre as is yuri,shonen and shojo ai.

Remember a few years back when all of Marvel's covers were just random pin-ups of the main character(s) posing? God, that was a horrible time for comic covers. You couldn't tell one issue from another.

The "New 52" Constantine had some really nice covers going for it, at least, after a certain period too. If you don't like reading the comics, you can collect the book for the covers!

He has a job as per this very issue. He does odd jobs for people with supernatural problems, and has some sort of web-site set up for people to contact him with their problems.

He never had any sort of proper job, he was basically doing this sort of work-for-hire thing in the HB stories you mention.

 

I liked the supernatural detective direction that Warren Ellis was taking John, during his short time on the book.

I wouldn't mind seeing John in that sort of role. The new book just doesn't have the correct tone to do it right though.

honestly from the perspective of somebody who just turned 23...the age disparage in hellblazer always irked me and that was what threw me offmost about JC in milligan's era.

 

that said,he is not translating well to this new generation.period.i'm from the era of cell phones and computers ,and f he;s in my age range,i see john as lurking on creepy magic websites...running a website for his business(magic one that can't be tracked by feds) an advice column/blog on creepy shit,hanging out at local places where the darker crowd hangs (New 52 got this right...he met zatanna and nick necro at a club...).And 'know what?

running an occult shop/ pawn shop covering for a place that sells supernatural and other messed up items (form hellblazer,that was his original occupation!a crooked as broker...the clock think with azarello and stealing the ace of winchesters from midnight.Why does nobody remember this stuff?) .And that could all just be a cover for what he really does.Or hell,make him a PI who only takes strange cases (something like harry dresden who,yknow,kinda had his set up ...less obscure).

 

Nowadays,staying under the radar won't get him far as there are other people on the grid who would be competition...i think if they wanna do modern they need to sit down a bit and speculate on this.

 

i will say i like that his sexuality isn't hidden.in this day and age ,he could get away with being queer more than back then.

Also Matt was a great John Constantine. And to say he didn't look like John makes no sense considering John has had many different artist drawing him. So there really isn't a definitive look for John besides a younger looking Sting, but even that facial structure didn't last after Jamie Delano.

 

yes,this is very true.the only thing that was the same was that he was a blonde haired chain smokin' brit.I've seen him short,tan ,pale,creepy looking,brown eyes,blue eyes,gray eyes,bearded,perma stuble,scrawny,musculatr,short-ish lankey....this is a thing with american comics in general.sometimes he's a hotty,other's he's a notty .really if he's blonde and from the UK,andybody could play john constantine.

This issue renewed my faith.I was ready to give up after issue #2,but I'm glad I stuck it through.

 

First off ,art shift THANK YOU.Both art styles worked better than the last 2 issues.Especially with the later parts,it looks and feels kinda Hellblazer-ish. I really liked that much and the tone.

 

Second,Gorgiana was badass ! And she did NOT need John Constantine.Period.Love how she could handle her own.Plus...she ain't anglo saxon (no offense to you guyz,but ,'y'know so that counts for something.)Also liked how Georgie kinda didn't trust John much anyway.And yes,I like her not taking his shit.

 

And then John turned into the sad desperate creature we all know and love...

 

It was good,all and all,but meh....some interesting things introduced,but this Johnny's more of a piece of shit in how everything went down.I mean in hellbazer,it was John trynna save the day and fucking up...(should've kept Newcastle) ,hell even in Constantine (nu52) John was deceived into getting into fucking up.But this asshole...

 

still think injustice Constantine was better than this one.
